How are your feet feeling?
Have you noticed your mum, dad or an older loved one struggling to cut their toenails? Or your child complaining about sore feet, or finding walking a little more uncomfortable?
As we get older, looking after our feet can become more difficult. Thickened nails, hard skin and painful corns can make everyday tasks harder than they need to be. Young feet are prone to infections like verrucas which can be painful when walking and during sports activities.
Sometimes, the kindest thing we can do is simply ask, “How are your feet feeling?”
If you’re helping an older family member, encourage them to have their feet checked and seek professional help when needed. Always respect their choices, dignity and independence.
We understand that everyone deserves to feel comfortable, listened to and cared for whatever their age.
Because helping someone stay comfortable on their feet is one small way of helping them maintain their independence.
