👂 A day in the life of a roofer’s ears! 🏠
This gentleman works as a roofer and came to me after noticing he was having to turn the TV up louder than usual — a really common sign that your ears may need checking.
And this is only some of what we removed! 😳
I actually see quite a few builders and tradespeople for ear wax removal. Working in dusty environments can mean plenty of dirt and debris around the outer ear, which can mix with natural ear wax and contribute to a build-up.
For this appointment I used a combination of soft-flow irrigation and microsuction. Soft-flow irrigation uses a controlled flow of warm water to gently flush softened wax and debris from the ear canal, while microsuction allows me to carefully remove remaining wax using suction under direct visualisation.
There isn’t always one method that’s best for everyone, which is why I assess the ear first and choose the most appropriate technique — or sometimes a combination of both.
If you’ve noticed you’re turning the TV up, asking people to repeat themselves, experiencing blocked/muffled ears or simply feel like your hearing isn’t quite as sharp, it might be worth having an ear health check. 👂

Hearing changes aren’t always caused by wax, so if the ear canal is clear and hearing remains reduced, further hearing/medical assessment may be advised.
