At Dr Hunt Psychology, we offer comprehensive cognitive, dyslexia and dyscalculia assessments for children and young people from the age of 8 years. Our assessments are led by HCPC-regulated Clinical Psychologists and delivered within a multidisciplinary team, providing a thorough, psychologically informed understanding of learning difficulties and cognitive differences.

These assessments are designed to identify strengths as well as areas of difficulty, and to understand how a young person’s learning profile may be affecting academic progress, emotional wellbeing, confidence, and behaviour.

All of our clinicians have specialist expertise in working with neurodivergent children and adults, including autistic individuals and those with ADHD. This specialist knowledge informs all aspects of our work. We also work with neurotypical children and adults, tailoring our approach to each individual’s needs, goals, and strengths.

A combined Autism and ADHD assessment provides for an all-round neurodevelopmental assessment of your child. Austism and ADHD are distinct conditions, but they can overlap and share some symptoms. A person can have neither, one, or both.

Q. What do you mean when you say multi-disciplinary assessment or multi-disciplinary team?

A. A multi-disciplinary assessment involves clinicians from different disciplines providing input into the overall assessment process and diagnostic outcome. We are a team of Senior Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists and we also have a Specialist Teacher.

Although you may not always meet every type of professional in our team (e.g. you may see two different psychologists depending on the child’s presentation and clinician availability), we hold a panel review to agree outcomes regarding diagnostic assessment. This panel will always include a Multi-disciplinary team. This ensures a robust process which is in line with NICE Guidelines.
