Autumn walks
Yesterdayβs walk with some of my favourite people β₯οΈπβοΈ days like this are a kind of medicine you canβt buy.
Autumn is becoming more visible with trees and hedges full of ripe berries, the northern geese arriving in migration, squirrels on the ground, changing leaves, cooler days and earlier evenings, and local to me, itβs what we call, βHull Fair weather β
Seasonal living can be as simple or involved, as you want it to be. The basics are taking a walk to feel the change of the season and thinking about how to support yourself with any change in daylight hours.
The depths are a change of diet, rhythm, clothes, activities and purpose. A physical involvement with nature, and food or natural supply gathering.
Our ancestors lived the depths naturally because that was life itself to them, in a modern age, convenience has given us the choice, or distractions, to come out of these natural and beneficial cycles.
If you are seeking whatβs now often referred to as wholesome, then seasonal living is the key to that particular door.
SELF-CARE PROMPT π§‘
- Fill up a thermos cup, put on some comfy shoes and
take a short, local walk. Notice the changing colours and textures in nature, which animals are about, look for signs of the seasons around you without needing to make it productive or to achieve anything. Find a bench, sit on it, drink your drink, and watch ππΏοΈ
* A quieter mind: walking in nature can help to reduce repetitive, negative thinking.
* A stronger body: it can also help to lower blood pressure and boost the immune system.
* A lighter heart: creating connection with the natural world can help us to overcome feelings of loneliness and disconnect from our own value.
If you go tag me in your pictures, Iβd love to see nature through your eyes in autumn π πΏοΈπ§‘
