Why do our care visits last an hour?
Because good care is about more than getting through a list of tasks.
Our one hour visits give carers the time to provide person centred care, based on what each client needs and what matters to them.
It might mean helping someone get ready for the day, preparing a meal, supporting them to do something for themselves rather than doing it for them, or simply sitting down for a chat and having some companionship.
Having enough time can help people:
• Maintain their independence and do things for themselves where possible
• Make choices about how they want their care and their day to look
• Keep to their usual routines
• Have time for a proper conversation and companionship
• Feel less rushed during personal care and other support
Every visit can be different because every person is different. An hour gives our carers the time to respond to the individual, rather than treating every visit as a set list of jobs.
For us, it’s about supporting people to live their lives in the way they want to, in their own home.
