A wonderful afternoon on Sunday-afternoon tea at the Estate of Ord with some of our Health Walk Volunteers.
Our volunteers give a few hours of their time each week to lead walks, risk assess new walks, organise additional trips to somewhere different, plan volunteer rotas, put up posters, and attend promotion events.
They work hard to ensure our groups are welcoming and plan walks which accommodate different abilities so this was just a wee way to say ‘thank you!’

If you are interested in joining a local walk, or want to volunteer please get in touch with our health walks & events manager, Jayne Preece at: [email protected]

Partnerships for Wellbeing’s Health Walks Manager, Jayne Preece, was delighted to help lead the Highland Recovery Walk organised by Highland Drug & Alcohol Partnership (HADP) last Saturday. It turned out to be a lovely, warm day with around 75 people joining the walk to celebrate recovery from drugs and alcohol, to reduce stigma and celebrate the strength of people in recovery.

PFW’s Health Walk’s Manager, Jayne Preece, enjoyed a visit to Fortrose Walking group yesterday afternoon. Heavy winds & rain ☔️ in the morning put quite a few folk off but the group still managed a short walk around to Fortrose cathedral ruins, part of which is thought to date back to 1300’s.
Back at the hall for refreshments one of the volunteers had brought along a homemade fruit loaf, and Jayne came away with half a bag of plums donated by walk leader Helen-which will soon be made into a tasty (hopefully!🤞) plum crumble-so not a bad afternoon at all!
If you’re in the Fortrose or Avoch area and feel like some fresh air and a natter, feel free to contact Jayne for more details at: [email protected]

After working with PFW for the past eight years, our colleague, Hayley, has retired.
Hayley has been a mainstay of PFW having worked various roles, mainly as our administrator, assisting all projects and was the driving force behind our hugely popular Friendship Club and outings.
Hayley's cheerful ways and caring nature will be missed by all the staff, volunteers and clients and we wish her a long and happy retirement.

One of our walkers, John, talks about why his wife, Yusra, enjoys coming on the health walk at UHI campus.
Volunteers and walkers make them feel welcome, which they appreciate as Yusra was finding it difficult to attend other activities because of her deteriorating eyesight. John comes along too, and Yusra has also treated the group to some fabulous home-made biscuits!

The UHI campus walk is designed to be inclusive and carer/family are also welcome to join us.
The walk takes place on Thursday mornings at 12-1pm, meeting at the cafe from 11.15am.
If you are interested in joining the walk, or would like to volunteer to help out please get in touch with Health Walks & Events Manager, Jayne Preece, at : [email protected]
