Broadford Hospital is expected to return to normal operations this afternoon, following water damage caused by the recent storms.

Over the past 24 hours, our estates and clinical teams, along with colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service, have worked hard to keep the hospital running safely while the remedial works were carried out. The final stage of those works has been taking place this morning.

We would like to thank everyone who has played a part in supporting the clinical and operational work required during this time. We are also grateful to the local community for bearing with us. Patient safety has remained our priority throughout.

Keep Bonfire Night Safe

If you're planning to enjoy fireworks this year, the safest option is to attend an organised public display. If you're using fireworks at home, take a few simple steps to keep yourself and your family safe.

More than half of all firework injuries happen to children, so always follow the Firework Code and read the instructions carefully before use.

For more fire safety advice, visit the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Winter bugs can spread easily and can have a bigger impact on vulnerable people.

Flu, COVID-19, colds, sore throats, diarrhoea and vomiting can spread quickly, particularly in hospitals and care homes.

If you’re unwell, please wait until you’re better before visiting.

It might mean postponing a visit, but you’ll be helping protect your loved one and others around them.

Thank you for helping us stop bugs spreading. 💙

Broadford Hospital update

Broadford Hospital has experienced water damage as a result of the recent storms.
Contingency plans are in place to keep the hospital and its services running while repairs are carried out. Some areas have been closed off and we are using alternative areas of the hospital in the meantime. Patient safety remains our priority.

If you have an appointment today or in the coming days that is affected, the team will contact you directly. If you have not heard from us, please attend as normal.
Thank you for bearing with us while we get the building back to normal.

Further stormy weather is expected to affect Scotland through Tuesday and Wednesday.

Coastal flooding impacts are likely around the country, these may be particularly significant around the Northern Isles coastline. Storm surges combined with spring tides and large waves are expected to result in spray and wave overtopping, particularly around the high tide. These conditions may result in extensive flooding of low lying roads, property flooding and significant travel disruption.

Remain vigilant, particularly around coastal areas, and stay away from flooded promenades, sea walls and crashing waves.
