CAN THERAPISTS GET BETTER RESULTS WHILE DOING LESS?
We’re trained to help. So when a client isn’t responding, our instinct is often to add more.
More pressure. More techniques. More treatment.
But what if the missing tool in your therapist’s toolbox is knowing when to do less?
Bowen Therapy uses small, precise movements followed by pauses that allow the body and nervous system time to respond.
It encourages you to look beyond the painful area, recognise whole-body patterns and become curious about what else might be influencing your client’s discomfort.
And Bowen is about far more than muscles, pain and body alignment. Its whole-body approach can offer another possibility when working with stress, breathing, digestion and hormonal changes, as well as clients who are sensitive, overwhelmed or unable to tolerate stronger treatments.
It is a powerful way of working without relying on force.
That matters for therapists too.
Bowen places far less physical strain on the hands, wrists, shoulders and back. It is one reason massage and other hands-on therapists are drawn to the training—and why many Bowen therapists continue practising well into their seventies.
After more than 20 years of Practicing Bowen, I still love seeing the moment a therapist realises:
“I don’t always need to do more. I need to notice more.”
Come and experience it for yourself.
