On Saturday 28th November we will be at Oakley Vale Community Centre Christmas Fete.

We'll have a charity stall and our responders will be showing visitors simple life-saving skills, including hands-only CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation).

It only takes a few minutes and you'll leave knowing what to do.

Are you the organised one? Could you help keep a life-saving charity running smoothly? πŸ’™

We're looking for a volunteer to help with general charity admin, supporting our chair and secretary. That could mean paperwork, organising information and records, and keeping track of all the charity's equipment.

This is a charity support role, not a responder role.

Would you know what to do? 🫁

You're in a cafΓ© and the person next to you starts choking. They can't speak, cough or breathe. What should you do first?

A) Give them a glass of water
B) Give up to 5 sharp back blows between the shoulder blades
C) Wait to see if it passes

The answer is B. If someone can't cough, speak or breathe, give up to 5 back blows, then up to 5 abdominal thrusts. If they're still choking, call 999 and keep repeating. You can practise this at one of our free workshops. 🫁

We've just finished a very busy season of events, and we'd love to do even more next year. πŸ™Œ

We're looking for someone who enjoys organising events to help us plan and run fundraising activities across our towns, villages and parishes. Got ideas? Even better. This is a charity support role, not a responder role.

Meet Keli one of our 25 volunteer Community First Responders. πŸ’™

Keli lives in Brigstock and has been always been interested in medical issues but never had the chance to get involved until she became part of the amazing team at NNCFR. When on call, Keli carries a kit bag with a defibrillator (AED) and oxygen, all funded by your donations.

Why do they volunteer? "I’ve been involved in many things around the Kettering area for decades, and it gives me great satisfaction knowing that my team and I care so passionately about our community. Being able to give back to those who have given so much to us over the years is incredibly rewarding.”

Thank you, Keli. Could you do the same? Message us to find out more.

In our rural villages, an ambulance can take that bit longer to arrive. πŸš‘

We're looking for people who live in our villages and parishes to train as Community First Responders, responding to 999 calls on behalf of East Midlands Ambulance Service. You'd give around 16 hours a month at times that suit you, and be there for your neighbours in the minutes that matter most. Full training is provided.

We'd especially love to hear from you if you live in Wilbarston, Cottingham, Middleton, Rothwell, Geddington and Broughton.

Today is Restart a Heart Day. πŸ«€

Three steps could help save a life.

1. Call 999 and put your phone on speaker.
2. Push hard and fast in the centre of the chest.
3. Send someone to fetch the nearest AED (defibrillator). The 999 call handler can tell you where it is, and the defibrillator talks you through every step.

We are proud to share that we work closely with schools in our area to focus on restart a heart day. We currently have 6 volunteers going into four schools (and rising). If you would like to book your school in for a visit please get in touch.

In an emergency, always call 999.

We've got some exciting news to share. πŸ’™

For the next three months, S.C. Agency, a creative agency right here in Corby, is giving us a helping hand with our social media. Keep an eye out for a fresh new look, life-saving tips, local events and the stories behind the uniform.

As our team grows, S.C. Agency will give us all the tools and training we need to take our socials back over and look after them ourselves. A local business helping a local charity grow, and we couldn't be more grateful.

Thank you, S.C. Agency. Give us a follow and share this post to help us reach more people. πŸ™Œ
