We have new qualified PAT testers at all three of our centres! ⚡️

Members and coaches spent a full day training with Peter from Plugtest, learning about voltage, circuits and how to spot electrical dangers, along with everything else that goes into testing an appliance safely.

The group threw themselves into it, and we now have three qualified coaches plus a qualified member at each of our Kettering, Corby and Wellingborough centres.

PAT testing is part of My Enterprise, our member-led social enterprise programme, so this qualification puts members at the heart of a real service that local businesses can book.

If your workplace needs PAT testing, do send us a message 🔌

A huge thank you to Peter for a brilliant day of training!

Coming soon: The Teamwork Trust Pop-up Shop! 🎉

We’re opening our very own pop-up shop in Newlands Shopping Centre, Kettering, from 16th to 21st November, 9am till 4pm.

Everything on the shelves will be created by our members through our My Enterprise programme.

There will be jewellery, laser cut coasters, Christmas gifts, keyrings, t-shirts, mugs, bags, bookmarks, and personalised items made to order.

Our members will be running the shop themselves, too. They’re designing the uniform, setting up displays, serving customers and handling the tills, and every shift is real retail and customer service experience that counts on a CV.

We can’t wait! And we’d love to welcome you 💙

Our members recently went behind the scenes at Myton Food Group to learn about food production! 👀

Community Champion Helen and Catering Manager Kim hosted the visit, starting with a tour of the canteen and a Q&A about their roles and the jobs available in the food industry.

Alex from the Technical Laboratory then walked the group through Myton's quality control process, explaining the checks every product passes before it reaches supermarket shelves.

The day ended on a creative note, with members decorating chocolate muffins and making their own Mr Potato Heads - a fun way to link the day back to Myton's main product, potatoes.

There was plenty of laughter and lots of proud faces as members showed off their creations.

Workplace visits are one part of how we help members work toward their own version of independence. Meeting employers on their own site gives members a clearer picture of the jobs out there and the skills those jobs require.

Thank you to Helen, Kim, Alex and the Myton team for opening your doors to us 💙

Baking is one of our members’ favourite sessions, so this is a celebration of what’s been coming out of our kitchens! 🧁

From cakes to cookies, quiches and sausage rolls, members follow recipes step by step, weigh and measure their own ingredients, and use kitchen equipment safely.

It’s a life skill they can take home with them too. Knowing you can follow a recipe and make something for yourself, or for the people you care about, is a real step towards independence.

We always come together afterwards to enjoy what we’ve baked 😋

Happy !

Michael joined us as a member a year ago.

He was spending most of his time at home, low on confidence and unsure what he wanted from the future.

Fast forward 12 months, and he’s become a big part of our Wellingborough centre.

He’s made friends, grown in confidence, improved his communication skills, and has a work placement with The Salvation Army, which he goes to independently.

Next on his list is a house of his own, and he’s working towards it one step at a time 💙

One wellbeing session led to our members designing their own salon 🙌

After an external partner ran a wellbeing session at our Kettering centre, our members asked if they could do more activities like it.

Together, we came up with Hair & Care - our new, member-led wellbeing salon ✨

The salon is just for our members, and it’s helping them build confidence, develop communication and social skills, explore self-care and learn practical skills.

Members have shaped it at every stage, choosing the colours, furniture and layout, and weighing up what we need against what we can afford.

We’ve also made visual guides so everyone can take part as independently as possible, whether that’s a hand and head massage, hair care and styling, or learning salon skills.

For some members, it’s a chance to relax. For others, it could spark an interest in further learning, volunteering or vocational work.

We’re developing the project at a pace that works for our members, and we’re exploring partnerships with local colleges and other organisations.

It was their idea, and they’ll keep shaping what it becomes 💙

The knowledge and skills our members develop with us go way beyond the walls of the centre.

That includes knowing how to stay safe online.

Learning provider AbilityNet have hosted a series of fun, accessible online safety sessions with our members.

The sessions covered how to use the internet safely for everyday things like online shopping, travel and maps, catching up on the news, streaming TV and social media.

They also talked through the risks, including scams and phishing emails, and how to create and protect a secure password.

To finish, everyone put their learning to the test with an online safety quiz, and there were plenty of happy faces when the answers came up right 🙌

A huge thank you to AbilityNet, who also offer free online courses for anyone who’d like to keep building their digital skills 💙

When Karolina first arrived at our Kettering centre, she was quiet and liked to take her time getting to know people.

That’s absolutely fine. Everyone at Teamwork Trust settles in at their own pace, in a space that’s warm and welcoming.

Karolina joined us on a work placement during Year 13 at Isebrook School. Slowly, steadily, she found her feet.

She’s now a familiar face at the centre, someone who enjoys conversations with staff and members alike, and who has built real friendships along the way.

She puts it simply: “I love being at Teamwork.”

Every journey starts somewhere, and we empower every ability together 💙

We’re coming together as a community to show support to our colleague and her daughter, Annabell - Bravelikebell 💜💛

In July, Annabell was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain tumour, Diffuse Midline Glioma (DMG).

To contribute to the family's fundraising efforts, we're hosting a Coffee Afternoon at our Kettering centre on Friday 16th October.

From 1pm till 3pm, there will be hot drinks, sweet treats and a tombola - as well as the usual friendly Teamwork Trust welcome!

We'd love to see you.

As soon as our Wellingborough members knew Ryn had passed his driving test, they were straight onto making a card! 🚗

Our staff team are regularly celebrating the achievements of members, but members celebrate staff achievements too.

Members designed a poster for the front cover and cut out lots of road signs to decorate it, ready to give to Ryn the next day.

That’s true community 💙

Well done Ryn! 👏
