😶🌫️ Perimenopause and brain fog- what can be done?
Brain fog in perimenopause is caused by fluctuating hormones which can impact brain chemistry, energy and blood flow.
Apart from the HRT route which could potentially help reduce brain fog and improve cognitive function, here are 3 other ways to help reduce it…
1️⃣ HYDRATION
Even mild dehydration can affect concentration, alertness, and mental clarity. Keep drinking those fluids and stay hydrated!
2️⃣ BLOOD SUGAR LEVEL CONTROL
Not eating enough and low blood sugar levels can cause tiredness, fogginess, and loss of focus.
Work on regular balanced meals including protein, fibre and healthy fats. If a slump hits you midafternoon- have a snack!
3️⃣ SLEEP
Poor sleep can affect attention, memory and processing speed. I know that this is easier said than done, but prioritising sleep quality and quantity can make a real difference!
If you would like some midafternoon snack ideas, comment or DM with SLUMP!
