Happy Wednesday ✨️

Sometimes growing means doing the thing that scares you a little.... 💚

Tomorrow, I'm taking Elluminate to the Scottish Marketing Summit.

It's a big step for me. Putting what we're building out there, meeting new people, making connections and giving others a chance to see what Elluminate is all about.

There's been a lot happening quietly behind the scenes over the past few months. Developing our programme, exploring new opportunities, building relationships and working out how we can create experiences that genuinely help people become more capable, connected and confident.

We've been laying foundations, even when it might have looked a little quieter from the outside.

The Summit is a chance to share some of that work, push myself beyond my comfort zone and open up new possibilities for collaboration and growth.

There's lots more to come, too. We're exploring opportunities around horsemanship, planning creative and practical skills workshops for the new year and finding more ways for people to learn, connect and try something different.

Elluminate is growing. We're finding our feet, building our roots and putting the pieces in place to do more of the things we believe in.

And I'm excited to see where the next chapter takes us. 🌿

If you're involved in a business, community project or organisation and can see opportunities for us to work together, I'd love to hear from you.

Sometimes the next step starts with a conversation.

Happy Choose-day ✨️

As the nights draw in, let's not retreat. Let's gather. 💚

Tonight is another Elluminate studio evening. A chance to get together, make things, share ideas, learn from one another and enjoy a bit of company while we get on with our projects.

I think there's something important about keeping these spaces going as the evenings get darker. Having somewhere to go, people to see, things to make and new ideas to explore.

And if you've been thinking you'd like to try something new yourself, there's more to come. Creative Connections will be returning in January, bringing opportunities to learn practical creative skills, have a go at something different and discover what you can make with your own hands.

For now, we'll keep gathering, creating and seeing where things lead.

What would you like to learn next? 🧵

Thankful Thursday ✨️🌿

Have you ever had so many open loops in your life that your brain feels like a computer with far too many tabs open? Yes, me too, and definitely feeling that this week!

It feels like a never ending list....Jobs that aren't quite finished.....Decisions waiting to be made. Things you need to organise, people you need to get back to, problems you're still trying to work out.

Even when you're not actively dealing with them, they're still there, quietly taking up space in your head.

I've been reminded recently how much lighter things can feel when a few of those tabs finally close. Not because every problem has disappeared, but because things have started moving again.

And it's made me think about how often that shift comes through connections with other people.

I'm feeling grateful at the moment for the connections I'm building around me. Creative minds coming together, conversations that leave you feeling lighter and brighter, people sharing skills, opening doors and finding ways to work together.

It's lovely to see relationships grow into something more too - Someone you meet through a creative workshop becomes someone you collaborate with. A conversation leads to a new idea. Spending time together leaves you both smiling, laughing and looking at things a little differently.

It reminds me that the time, care and attention we put into relationships really does matter.

I'm also grateful for the reminder to keep going when things feel difficult. Sometimes all we can do is put our heads down, deal with what's immediately in front of us and trust that we can find a way through.

But sometimes the answer isn't to push harder. It's to ask for help, talk things through or let somebody else offer a perspective we hadn't considered.

Being stuck doesn't mean we're stuck forever.

Sometimes we just need a little time, a different approach, a helping hand or one small thing to shift before we can see the possibilities again.

So perhaps that's something worth thinking about this week.

Is there one open loop in your life that you could close? Or one thing that's been taking up space in your head that might become easier if you talked it through with someone?

And equally, is there somebody you could reach out to, support or simply make smile today?

Hello again Monday ✨️

What is nature doing that we could learn from? 🌿

I've been out exploring the hedgerows lately, as many of you know.... watching the seasons change and gathering what's left of the autumn harvest.

The birds and other wildlife have been busy, making the most of what's available. The blackberries have been eaten, the elderberries have largely disappeared, and the rosehips and haws are offering up some of the last bright bursts of colour.

And it got me thinking....

The birds don't follow a calendar. They don't have a date in their diary telling them it's time to prepare for winter. They respond to what's happening around them. As the seasons change, their behaviour changes with them. They gather, they feed, they prepare.

Meanwhile, we humans have created a world where we can have almost anything, at almost any time of year. We work to the clock, organise our lives around calendars and often expect ourselves to operate at the same pace whatever the season.

But just because we can live that way, does it mean we should?

What might change if we paid a little more attention to the natural world around us? If we noticed the changing seasons, adapted to what's available, and allowed the world outside to influence how we live, what we eat, what we do and the pace at which we do it?

Perhaps living with nature isn't about trying to recreate the lives of wild animals. It's about remembering that we're part of the natural world, too.

So, what is nature doing around you right now that you could learn from? 🌿

What can horses teach us about ourselves?

Have you ever stopped to wonder?

I've been developing something different for Elluminate and its taken quite a wee while to get right...... now I'm looking for a couple of people to help me pilot the programme!

Horsemanship is often seen as being about riding, handling horses or learning the practical skills involved in caring for them. But what if we looked at it a little differently?

The horse is the teacher. The skills we develop are for life.

Horses are incredibly perceptive. They respond to how we communicate, how we behave and the consistency between our intentions and our actions. Working with them gives us an opportunity to explore some really important life skills in a practical, hands-on way.

Things like communication, awareness, boundaries, trust, confidence, leadership and responsibility.

These aren't skills that belong in a field with a horse. They're skills we carry into our relationships, our work, our learning and the way we navigate everyday challenges.

And this isn't just for children, or for people who already know their way around horses. I'm interested in exploring what people of different ages and backgrounds can learn through this kind of experience.

I'm looking for a couple of people who would be interested in taking part in an initial pilot programme, helping me develop and refine the approach before we grow it further.

You don't need to have horse experience. Just an openness to learning something new.

If this sparks your curiosity, I'd love to hear from you. Drop me a message and we can have a conversation. 🐴

Thankful Thursday ✨️🌿

It's been a bit of a week so far if I'm being honest, and I'm having to look a little harder than usual for my thankful moment this Thursday!

But on Tuesday, Mum and I took Kenzie to see The Littlest Yak at the Dundee Rep, and we had such a lovely wee afternoon.

There's something really special about seeing a children's story brought to life through singing, dancing, costumes and performance. It was a lovely reminder that creativity comes in so many different forms, and that sometimes it's just as good to sit back and enjoy what someone else has created rather than always being the one making things happen.

So this week, I'm thankful for a little bit of theatre magic, time with Mum and Kenzie, and a reminder to make space for enjoying other people's creativity, too. 💚

What little thing has brought you some joy this week?

Happy Choose-Day ✨️🌿

How much of what we do is because we choose to, and how much is simply because it's what we always do?

It's so easy to get caught up in routines, in the things that need doing, the jobs that need finished, and all the little things that fill our days.....And before we know it, the things we actually enjoy doing can end up at the bottom of the list.

Resonate at all? This has me written all over it....

But we can choose to do things differently, can't we?

Choose to spend a few hours making something. Try something we've never done before. Get together with other people, have a blether, share ideas and see what happens.

That's one of the things I love about the workshops. Of course, it's lovely to go home with something you've made, but there's so much more to it than that. It's the conversations, the figuring things out, the trying something new and sometimes discovering you're capable of something you weren't quite sure you could do.

And as the nights draw in, I think there's something quite important about making those choices.

Rather than retreating into our own little corners, what if we made more opportunities to get together, slow down, learn something and enjoy a bit of time with other people?

It doesn't need to be anything grand. Sometimes it's just about making the choice to do something a wee bit differently.

So, what could you choose to make a bit more time for this autumn? 🍂

What a lovely Sunday afternoon ☺️

5 lovely ladies joined me this afternoon to learn how to make their own lampshades!

We had harris tweed, wool check, velvet and maps and what beauties we ended up with!

Are they perfect? Maybe not quite, but I'm very impressed for a first time and I hope they light up your home in more ways than one ✨️

Planning another in the next couple of months..... pop me a message if you fancy joining us next time!

And....... we are busy plotting some new making workshops to encourage handmade and caring gifts this christmas.

Watch this space.....👀

As the nights draw in, let's make our homes places we really want to spend time. 🍂

I've been thinking about those little things that make a space feel like ours.... The colours we love, the fabrics that catch our eye, and the warm glow of a lamp on a dark evening.

This is a little something I've been making for myself, using a wonderfully colourful botanical velvet. It's a reminder that cosy doesn't have to mean neutral — sometimes a splash of colour is just what a room needs!

That's the lovely thing about making your own lampshade. You get to choose the fabric, learn a practical skill and create something individual to take home and enjoy.

I'm getting everything ready for tomorrow's workshop, and I've still got a couple of spaces available if you'd like to join us.

Drop me a message today and come and make something lovely, enjoy some time slowing down and I promise there will be cake! 🪡
