A prerequisite should be checked before training begins.
When a course requires an existing qualification, that requirement is there for a reason. The teaching builds on knowledge and practical skills you should already have.
If the entry requirement is Level 3 Massage, for example, the course is designed for someone who has already completed that foundation.
Being enrolled on a qualification is different from having achieved it. Attending classes, waiting for assessment or expecting to pass does not mean you hold the required qualification.
At Grace Training Academy, you must have your prerequisite certificate in your hand before attending an advanced course that requires it. This applies even if you are completing your foundation training with us. Knowing you, teaching you or seeing your progress does not replace checking your completed qualification.
Prerequisites form part of a course’s approved accreditation requirements. Where those conditions require a completed qualification and evidence of certification, accepting students without them is a breach of those accreditation conditions.
It may also create difficulties when arranging insurance for the treatment afterwards. A certificate for an advanced course does not replace the foundation qualification required to access it.
Before booking any course, ask:
• What qualification do I need?
• What evidence must I provide?
• Will this course meet my insurer’s requirements?
Every course provider **should** check that students meet the approved entry requirements before training begins.
These checks are part of caring for our students, maintaining teaching standards and respecting the clients who will eventually be in your hands
