Why I start my assessments by asking clients to squeeze a handle. 📈
If you read The Telegraph this week, you might have seen a fascinating experiment by a writer who transformed her hand health in six weeks. But as a private physiotherapist, I don't test your grip strength just to see if you can open a jam jar.
Your grip is actually a vital "vitality meter" for your entire body. As orthopaedic surgeons point out, a squeeze is the end-product of signals starting in your brain’s motor cortex, traveling down your spinal cord, and using your nervous system.
When you train the right way, the data proves that these systems adapt beautifully.
Real Data, Real Results (Swipe left to see the report! ➡️)
Take a look at a recent progress report from a female client in our Strong & Steady program. When she started, her left grip strength was sitting at a baseline of 7.0 kg—well below the normative average.
By her reassessment, look at her progress:
Timed Up & Go (TUG) Test: Dropped from 19.31s to 14.00s (Significant Improvement!)
Left Grip Strength: Climbed from 7.0 kg to 12.3 kg (Improved and safely back in the normal range!)
In just a couple of months, she completely transformed her physical scores, her nervous system health, and her everyday independence.

Not Just For Seniors: The Strength Profile Service for All Ages
While this data is an incredible win for our over-55 community, I use this exact clinical grip dynamometer technology as a core pillar of our Strength Profile Service for every age group.
For Gym Goers & Athletes: We use grip data to measure central nervous system (CNS) fatigue, track recovery blocks, and isolate underlying muscle imbalances before they turn into a gym injury.
For Desk Workers & Everyday Fitness: It helps us identify neural health and joint resilience long before chronic shoulder, neck, or repetitive strain pain takes hold.
Stop Guessing. Start Measuring.
Whether you want the supportive group environment of our Strong & Steady classes or a standalone, deep-dive Strength Profile Assessment to optimise your current gym training—we track what actually matters.
