Dyspraxia Awareness Week continues and today we wanted to share some simple things that can make a real difference for a child with Dyspraxia at home and at school 💙

🤸 Build movement breaks into the day - children with Dyspraxia often need more physical input to feel regulated and ready to learn

✏️ Try different pencil grips and writing aids - the right tool can make a huge difference to handwriting comfort and stamina

👕 Give extra time for tasks like getting dressed - rushing increases frustration and makes coordination harder

📋 Break tasks down into smaller steps - rather than “get ready for school” try “put your socks on first”

👏 Celebrate the effort, not just the outcome - children with Dyspraxia work incredibly hard and that deserves recognition every single day

This week is Dyspraxia Awareness Week, and it is a cause that sits really close to our hearts at LOTS 💚

Dyspraxia affects movement, coordination, and motor planning. It can make everyday tasks like getting dressed, using cutlery, riding a bike, writing, or even just navigating a busy classroom feel genuinely exhausting for a child.

This week is Dyslexia Awareness Week and we wanted to take a moment to talk about something we see come up regularly with the children we support 💙

Dyslexia is often thought of purely as a reading and writing difficulty, but for many children it also affects fine motor skills, coordination, visual processing, and handwriting. These are areas where Occupational Therapy can make a really meaningful difference.

If your child is struggling with handwriting, pencil grip, or the physical act of getting words onto a page, it is worth exploring whether Occupational Therapy support could help alongside any other provision they are receiving.
