When you’ve been trained not to show weakness, how easy is it to ask for help?

In our forthcoming episode of Inside Dementia: Expert Dialogues, Dr. Michele Board joins Prof. June Andrews to explore the experiences of veterans living with dementia and why some may find it difficult to seek support.

Michele shares how the SERVED project at Bournemouth University is working alongside veterans to understand those barriers, build trust through creative activities, and ensure their voices shape the research.

It’s a conversation about identity, comradeship and the importance of feeling understood. It’s also a subject close to Michele’s heart: her husband is a veteran.

Dementia Research UK is proud to support this work, helping bring attention to people whose experiences can too easily be overlooked.

🎙️ Coming soon. Follow us for the episode release.

Dads – this one’s for you.

Our next Dad’s Space is on Wednesday 17 June at 10am at The Chain Runner, Livingston.

This is a relaxed, no-pressure space for dads, grandads, stepdads and kinship carers who support a child (0–16) with additional support needs.
No agendas, no expectations. Just a chance to grab a brew, have a chat and spend time with others who understand.

Whether you want to talk, listen, or just get out the house for a bit, you’ll be made welcome.

The group is run by CoWL staff and volunteers who are dads and parent carers themselves so you’re in good company.

Dad’s Space runs on the third Wednesday of every month, 10.00–11.30.

Come along and give it a try!
