Thank you to Advantages of Age group - Baby Boomers & Beyond for a fantastic day at the ‘Rebel Later Life: Ideas Party’ on Saturday.

It was a jam-packed agenda of talks, from an Opening keynote with Lynne Franks OBE on who she is going to be when she grows up, to working out if your pension is enough, re-designing your relationship after 50, and how to have a funky funeral.

We loved some of the language being used, all in the name of rewriting the narrative of getting older. It’s all about curiosity, re-invention and keeping on growing.

We had great engagement throughout the day too, including The Lateral Ideas Box, which has given us huge inspiration for everything from new content to new products.

It was all in evidence that turning 60 isn’t the start of slowing down, it’s about finding new ways to keep living fully.

Huge congratulations to Suzanne Noble and Rose Rouse, Trudy Monk and the team for pulling off an excellent event. We look forward to doing more with you in the future.

Could your medications be causing more problems than they're solving?

As we get older, it's common to take several medications for different health conditions.

But did you know that some medicines can interact with each other, or cause side effects that are mistaken for new health problems?

It's called polypharmacy, and research suggests nearly half of adults over 65 in England take five or more regular medications.

The combined effects can sometimes contribute to dizziness, falls, confusion and kidney problems.

That doesn't mean you should stop taking your medicines. Many are essential for keeping us healthy.

But it does mean that regular medication reviews become increasingly important as we age.

A simple conversation with your GP or pharmacist could help ensure everything you're taking is still necessary, effective and working safely together.

We've explored the evidence and what everyone over 60 should know in our latest article:

Over the hill? Not yet.

The Lateral Health Plan has been designed from the ground up, specifically for active over 60s with no intention of stopping.

It lets the NHS do what it does best whilst supplementing with private care when needed. As a result your premium can be lower than traditional health insurance.

Because turning 60 isn’t the start of slowing down, it’s about finding new ways to keep living fully.

That glass of w**e may affect you differently at 60 than it did at 40.

As we age, changes in muscle, body water, balance and the medicines we take can all change how alcohol affects us.

The evidence around its health effects has changed too.

We now know alcohol shouldn’t be viewed as something to drink for heart or brain health. It can affect blood pressure, sleep and balance, interact with medicines and increase cancer risk.

That doesn’t mean everyone needs to stop drinking.

It means knowing the risks — and deciding what makes sense for your health and priorities.

We’ve broken down what alcohol actually does to the body after 60 in our latest article:

Last week we held the 60+ social doubles team racketlon at Ebbisham Sports Club in Epsom.

It was a fantastic event including tennis, racketball, badminton & table tennis.

We loved getting to know some of the familiar faces in our club community and meeting new ones too. The standard on show was exceptional, which goes to show what we’re all about - showing that today’s over 60s are not old, grey and tired, but dynamic, independent and real.

We loved celebrating the embodiment of the Lateral brand; ‘those with no intention of stopping’, and came away as always, inspired by the energy of the community and everyone’s enthusiasm for playing sports and trying new things in their 60s, 70s and 80s.

Huge thank you to all involved and look forward to seeing you on court again soon.
