This one’s for the partners of ADHDers out there.
Here’s what we really, really want this Valentine’s Day 🤭☺️:
– Your genuine interest when we send you 6 articles, 3 memes, and a TikTok deep-dive - like a magpie collecting shiny things.
– You taking over one boring admin task or household chore, even if it’s “our chore.”
– An adventure we didn’t have to plan, but that aligns suspiciously well with our preferences. 🤭
– No judgment when we stim, sing, monologue, interrupt, or react out loud to the movie 15 times. The fact that we do it in front of you openly, means you’re truly special. 💕
– A little softness when we’re spiralling. We don’t need a solution or a fix. Just your voice saying, “I’ve got you.”
– Gently reminding us to take our meds, eat something with protein, drink water - even when we say, “I’m fine, leave me alone.” (We’re not. Don’t.)
– A smile when we decide to reorganise the spice rack at midnight or alphabetise the bookshelf while procrastinating. You know it’s not about the spice rack.
– Your full enthusiasm when we pitch a wildly over-the-top idea at 11:23pm. We probably won’t do it anyway, but being met with enthusiasm means everything 🤗.
– Better yet: offer to run with one of our ideas. Because we’re visionaries, not finishers, and it’s magic when someone meets us halfway.
– Snacks. Lovingly placed in our work bag. We probably forgot. You didn’t. That’s why we’re perfect for each other 😬.
– And your cheer when we go off on a passionate rant about a social justice issue we just learned about 20 minutes ago. Let us care out loud.
This is the stuff we’ll remember. The stuff that actually supports the version of us that doesn’t always feel easy to love.
What do you want this Valentine’s Day - whether you’re the ADHDer or the one loving them?
Drop it below and let’s spread the looooove 💕💕💕
