Today we have been published in Chemist + Druggist talking all about the importance of speaking to a qualified pharmacist for students ahead of national pharmacy week!!

Last week we attended a Head & Shoulders UK event and when I got chatting to the influencer team (Georgie, and actually a pharmacist herself!) she was so excited about the Chemist + Druggist features that she said it’s like the pharmacist version of Vogue 🤣🤣

So here we are, basically on the cover of Vogue, in the pharmacy world 💅💊

Ever wonder why independent pharmacies often have so many more staff than the chains? 👀

They skip the corporate overhead, so they can staff around patient care rather than a labour budget. Many also bring in extra income through services like delivery, blister packs, care homes and compounding.

But funding is super tight for every pharmacy and financial pressure can push a small minority to cut corners.

🚩Some have been caught claiming NHS payment for scripts they never dispensed or

🚩Handing out medicines patients returned

Both are serious breaches and the NHS Business Services Authority does investigate.

Most pharmacies of every kind do the right thing and I personally support my local independent pharmacy 💊

💡 Tip: Always return unwanted medicines to a pharmacy for safe disposal, never to anyone else.

⚠️ Patient returned medicines must always be destroyed. They can never be given to another patient, even if they look unopened or have only left the pharmacy for a few minutes.
