Have you got aches or pains you’ve just learned to live with?

That niggling knee, stiff hip, aching back or sore shoulder…
Maybe you’ve told yourself:
🟠 “It’s just age.”
🟠 “There’s nothing that can really help.”
🟠 “I don’t want to rely on painkillers—but what else is there?”

So you avoid certain movements. Or stop doing things you enjoy.
Because pain always seems to tag along.

But what if there was another way?
Soft tissue therapy can make a big difference—without needing to push through pain or pop another pill.

👉 It’s not just massage. It’s targeted, remedial work that helps release tension, rebalance muscles and ease pressure on joints—so you can move more freely and feel more comfortable.

I use a mix of techniques, including the Emmett Technique—a gentle, highly effective method that helps relieve pain and improve movement fast.
Most people feel a real difference after just one session. Some don’t even need a second.

If you’re ready to stop putting up with it and start feeling better, book your session now.
📍 Treatments take place in my home treatment room in Worcester Park.

I love it when a client comes back and shows me what they've been working on.

This client had been struggling with her shoulder for months.

She'd been to the doctor, was relying on pain medication and was finding it really difficult to lift her arm without pain.

Understandably, she was getting frustrated.

Two weeks later, she came back for her next session.

And she was able to show me how much things had changed.

She could move her arm into positions that had previously been painful or simply weren't possible.

Her movement isn't perfect yet. There's still work to do.

But she was already experiencing less pain and sometimes no pain at all with movements that had previously been difficult.

And that was a huge achievement.

It's a good reminder that you don't necessarily need months and months before you start to notice a difference.

With the right support, understanding what's going on and some simple things to work on between sessions, you can start to feel different surprisingly quickly.

And there's nothing quite like seeing a client realise, *“Oh… I can actually do that now.”*

Sometimes the goal of rehab isn't to do more exercises. It's to make everyday life easier.

I work with an older client who has been struggling with shoulder pain for some time.

She was finding everyday things difficult:

* Eating
* Brushing her hair
* Reaching behind her to fasten her bra

Things we normally do without thinking suddenly become frustrating when your shoulder doesn't move as it should.

And when you've been dealing with pain for a while, it can also make you anxious about using the arm in case you make things worse.

Because she's older and has osteoarthritis in her shoulder, I need to adapt how I work with her. The exercises need to be appropriate for her, but they also need to be simple enough for her to do safely at home.

To build trust in her movements, we used something familiar.

**Reaching for a bun.**

Reach forwards, pick it up, bring it back. Reach forwards, pick it up, turn the hand, bring it back, turn the hand and put it down.

It looks like an ordinary everyday movement because that's exactly what it is.

But we're using it to work on her shoulder movement and control in a way that makes sense to her.

That's something I think is really important with rehab.

The exercise doesn't have to look like an exercise.

Sometimes the best way to help someone move better is to start with the movements they actually want to be able to do.

You don't stop moving because you're getting older. You get older because you stop moving.

Age isn't always what takes away our strength. Often, it's the gradual loss of movement over time.

It starts with little decisions.

- Taking the lift instead of the stairs.
- Driving to the local shop instead of walking.
- Avoiding getting down on the floor because you're worried you won't get back up.
- Holding onto the handrail for every step.
- Or choosing a stair lift when, with the right support and guidance, your legs are still capable of doing the job.

The less we ask of our muscles, the weaker they become. The weaker they become, the harder everyday tasks feel. Before long, we've convinced ourselves that it's "just old age."

It doesn't have to be that way.

Your body is designed to move. With the right approach, you can improve your strength, balance and confidence at almost any age, helping you stay independent and keep doing the things you love for longer.

If you've started avoiding activities because you're worried about pain or feeling unsteady, let's talk.

Book a discovery call and together we'll create a plan to help you move with confidence again.

I’m watching you before you’ve even started your workout.

And there’s a very good reason for that.

The warm-up isn’t just about getting your muscles ready for exercise.

It gives me a chance to see **how your body is moving today.**

Because your body can move differently from one day to the next.

One of my clients was doing dynamic side lunges — an exercise she normally moves through really well.

But today, something looked different.

Her right leg was turning out and she didn’t seem to be loading it in quite the same way.

So rather than simply carrying on, I stopped and asked her what she was feeling.

She also mentioned that her neck was hurting.

Looking more closely, I could see some rotation through her upper back and increased tension on one side.

I did a few Emmett releases with her, then we repeated the movement.

**Much smoother.**

That little bit of preparation meant she could go into the rest of her session with better movement rather than simply working around something that wasn’t quite right.

This is why I don’t believe in blindly following a programme.

I want to know:

**How are you moving today?**
**What feels different?**
**And what might affect how you perform the exercises?**

Because the aim isn’t just to get through your workout.

It’s to help you move well while you’re doing it.

The amazing thing about EMMETT Technique is how quickly you can feel the difference. Most clients will feel an immediate change.

As a sports and remedial massage therapist, I know that using massage for the same issue would take at least 4 sessions for the same sort of change to be felt.

Are you struggling with a tightness, pain and poor movement? Book your soft tissue session with me now. Treatments take place in my home treatment room in Worcester Park. £65 per treatment.

She came in with lower back pain. But she wasn't even sure what was hurting anymore.

This new mum told me she’d become so used to feeling tension throughout her body that she couldn’t really identify where the problem was.

When I assessed her, there were quite a few things going on.

Her right shoulder was sitting higher and further forwards, her left side felt more tense when she was lying down, and her right foot was resting in an unusual position.

She also has hypermobility, which adds another layer because something can *feel* tight even when a joint is already moving towards its end range.

So rather than simply stretching everything that felt tight, I looked at how the different areas were working together.

I worked on her ankle, which was affecting how her lower leg and hip were moving, then worked through her upper back and chest to help open up her shoulders.

When she stood up afterwards, she suddenly noticed something she hadn’t mentioned at the start:

Her left leg wasn't taking her weight in the same way it used to.

She remembered that this hadn't been an issue before pregnancy.

So we looked at how she was activating the muscles around her left hip and I gave her a couple of simple exercises to help her reconnect with that side.

And there was another important piece to the puzzle.

She's carrying her new baby predominantly on her right side.

Which means her right shoulder spends a lot of time elevated and her body has to find ways to compensate.

When you're doing that for hours every day, on top of pregnancy, disrupted sleep and the general demands of having a newborn - it's not surprising that your body starts to feel like one big ball of tension.

The useful thing about treatment isn't just reducing that tension.

It's helping you notice what's happening before it becomes your new normal.

Now she has a better awareness of where she's holding tension, what she's doing throughout the day to create it, and a few simple things she can do to counterbalance it.

He came in with neck pain. But his neck wasn’t the only thing I needed to look at.

This client was struggling to sleep because his neck was so painful. Even leaning to one side was difficult, which was making everyday life pretty challenging.

When I assessed him, I noticed some tension through his upper back and shoulders, with his right shoulder sitting slightly differently to the left.

He also mentioned that he had some pain at the front of his right hip.

That might seem unrelated to neck pain - but this is exactly why I don’t just work on the area that hurts.

I started by working around his chest and the front of his shoulders, then looked at how his hips and pelvis were moving.

His right hip was particularly tight and seemed to be pulling him forwards. After working there, I tested the large muscles through his back and found considerably more tension on the right side.

Working through these areas began to change how his shoulder and upper back were moving. His shoulder was suddenly moving much more freely.

And then something interesting happened.

He became incredibly aware of all the changes taking place in his body.

He said:

"I've never really been aware of my body apart from where there's pain. I've just got so used to numbing everything out that I don't really know what it's supposed to feel like anymore."

At that point, we decided to stop because his body was already responding to a lot of change, and sometimes the best thing you can do is give it some time to process.

This is also why I don't follow a rigid treatment formula.

Every body responds differently. Some people feel an immediate change. Others notice things unfolding over the following 24 hours.

The aim isn't to keep doing more and more.

It's to understand what's going on, make the changes that are needed, and then give the body a chance to respond.
