This Sunday, 25 October, the clocks go back one hour at 2am as the UK returns to Greenwich Mean Time. GOV.UK guidance confirms the change.

For people who rely on familiar routines and clear structure, our teams know that even a small shift in the day deserves thoughtful support.

Across Transforming Support, our teams approach the clock change as part of everyday person-centred support. They adjust routines carefully, considering things like mealtimes, bedtime routines and visual schedules, so the change feels familiar and manageable.

It is a simple seasonal change, but it is also a good example of what specialist support looks like in practice: noticing the small things that matter to each person and adapting support around them.

Because good support is not only about the big moments. It is about helping everyday life work for the individual, every day.

Concentration does not happen in isolation.

Noise, competing demands, unclear instructions, or how a task is structured can all make it harder to focus.

Instead of asking why someone cannot concentrate, it is often more useful to understand what is getting in the way and what might help.

For one person, that could mean a quieter environment. For another, it could mean shorter instructions, a visual plan, movement breaks, or more time to process information.

ADHD will not look the same for everyone. Good support starts by listening to the person and adapting the approach around what works for them.

💪🏿Care has many voices.
And this month, one voice in particular needs to be heard.

Black history isn't just something we look back on. We make it every day through care, leadership, creativity, and the relationships that hold communities together.

This Black History Month, we recognise the Black colleagues, professionals, and community partners whose knowledge, experience, and contributions shape the work we do across Transforming Support.

Recognition should extend beyond October. It means listening to different experiences, creating fair opportunities, and ensuring people feel respected, valued, and able to contribute throughout the year.

Being heard should lead to something.

It may help us understand why a routine no longer works, why somewhere feels overwhelming or what support needs to change.

Good support does not speak over the person. It listens, adapts and keeps the person involved in decisions.

This World Mental Health Day, we are recognising lived experience for what it is: knowledge that should shape support.

💜Different ways of thinking bring different strengths.

Dyslexic people may approach information, ideas and problem-solving differently. The right communication and workplace adjustments help those strengths come through.

That could mean clearer documents, more time to process information, assistive technology or the option to talk something through rather than relying only on written instructions.

This Dyslexia Awareness Week, we’re recognising the value of workplaces that understand different ways of working and give people the tools to contribute at their best.

This World Animal Day, we are celebrating A’s contribution to her local community.

A new volunteering role rarely begins on the first day. For A, it began with building a CV, exploring local opportunities and practising interviews until she felt ready to take that next step herself.

At Transforming Support, we take the time to understand what matters to each person. We then provide practical support to help them explore their interests, access opportunities and build the confidence to make those opportunities their own. For A, this meant support with applications, interview preparation and safeguarding training. The achievement, however, is hers.

Today, A volunteers at an animal protection charity shop, as well as at a local children’s nursery. These are roles she has worked towards and made her own.

This World Animal Day, we are celebrating A’s contribution to a cause she cares about, and the preparation, confidence and determination that helped her get there.

Age adds chapters, but the person is still at the heart of the story. 👵

Growing older does not mean losing your voice or no longer having plans, preferences and aspirations of your own.

On the International Day of Older Persons, we are celebrating older people as unique individuals with valuable perspectives, rich experiences, and new, exciting chapters still to come.
