We recently held two fantastic Spotlight on Sarcoma Days in Stanmore and Leeds, bringing together healthcare professionals new to sarcoma or do not work in sarcoma specialist services to share knowledge, learn more about sarcoma and improve care.

📍Stanmore Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Trust : 69 healthcare professionals from 20 organisations came together to hear from sarcoma specialists and Charlotte, who was treated for sarcoma as a teenager. Her powerful story offered invaluable insights into the patient experience.

📍Leeds: 71 healthcare professionals from 20 hospitals joined us to hear from sarcoma specialists across Leeds, Newcastle and Sheffield, alongside Lindsey, who spoke openly about her experience of being diagnosed with osteosarcoma. The day was held in partnership with the North East & Yorkshire Rare Tumours Networks.

Thank you to everyone who attended and shared their expertise.

By increasing awareness and understanding of sarcoma among healthcare professionals, we hope to support earlier diagnosis, improve patient care and ultimately lead to better outcomes for people affected by sarcoma.

Thank you to Merck and Deciphera Pharmaceuticals for sponsoring these study days.

At Sarcoma UK, we’re committed to making sure everyone feels included, represented and supported.

We’re inviting as many people as possible to take part in our equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) survey to help us understand how we’re doing and where we can improve.

From how inclusive you find our communications to how we could make our services more accessible, your feedback will help us shape a more inclusive Sarcoma UK. We’ll also ask a few questions about you to help us better understand the communities we serve.

The survey takes just 5 minutes to complete.

Last month, we welcomed PhD students and early career researchers to our London office for the first Sarcoma UK Early Career Researcher Network Day! 🔬

Sarcoma research is a relatively small field, and building connections with others can make a real difference, particularly for those at the start of their careers.

The day brought together researchers from across our funded projects to share ideas, learn from each other and build connections within the sarcoma research community.

From exploring careers in sarcoma research and sharing work through poster presentations to discussing the importance of patient experiences and lay reviewers in research funding decisions, it was a fantastic opportunity to learn and connect.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and to our speakers for sharing their knowledge and experiences!
