To support this mission we provide expert education to help yoga and health professionals in the service of this goal and work to translate the benefits of yoga therapy to health services. https://themindedinstitute.com/product-category/courses/

All of our courses incorporate a yogic therapeutic perspective, the psychological and physiological understanding of conditions and related yoga practices, up to date research, and guide for best practice - based on years of clinical experience. As the body-brain-mind connection is often crucial in unearthing the benefits of yoga therapy we also like to do a deep dive into neuroscience when appropriate!

There’s so much shame around having a mental health issue. In recognition of World Mental Health Day today (10 October), I'm calling on my friends and colleagues in the yoga and yoga therapy communities to join me in reducing the stigma. It’s okay not to be okay and it’s okay to say it. 💚🙏

I hid my mental health struggles for years.

Earlier in my life, I had acute mental health issues, and I did everything I could to squash them down. I smiled. I coped, in ways that were sometimes healthy and mostly not. The pressure kept building until I left New York, because escape felt like my only option.

That’s how I ended up in Buddhist monasteries for three years. It’s also why yoga became my life path.

I’m grateful for where my life has gone. But we shouldn’t need extreme measures to find ease. I still wonder what might have been different if I’d stopped pretending and let the people who cared about me know I was struggling.

What I’ve learned: hiding my anxiety only amplified it. And yoga professionals aren’t all shiny and calm. Honesty is part of the healing journey.

Join me, together, to help reduce stigma.

This Global Mental Health Day, I’m offering a free therapeutic yoga class, because the more honest we are, and the more we practise together, the less alone any of us has to feel.

Saturday 10th October, 10–11am (UK time), live on Zoom
Optional sharing space, 11–11.30am
No yoga experience needed. Not recorded, so please join live.

👉 Reserve your free place: link in the comments.

And if you’ve struggled, know someone who does, or want to support people who are quietly struggling: share this to let them know they are not alone. It’s okay not to be okay, and it’s okay to say it.

This class is not a substitute for professional care. 🙏

Last week the Guardian published “Feeling wired? The truth about ‘nervous system resets’,” and it confirms what yoga therapists have long advocated: there are no quick fixes in health and healing. In a world of here-today-gone-tomorrow wellness trends, we need to return to evidence-based practices.

The first module of our enhanced Diploma in Integrative Minded Yoga Therapy began last Thursday and concluded last night, after four very full days together.

We had high hopes for the additional components we have introduced, with an even greater emphasis on personal development, beginning with active listening and continuing into the deeper work of unpicking our own perceptions of reality.

We knew these additions had the potential to take the Diploma somewhere deeper. What we could not have anticipated was what this particular group of people would bring to that work. The openness, curiosity and willingness of each person to explore, question and share created something collectively that went far beyond what we could ever have planned into a curriculum.

As part of our hybrid learning options, people joined us both in person and online, flying in and Zooming in from different countries, yet coming together as one group and beginning to form a very special sangha.

It is our students and graduates who make the Institute what it is, and these four days have reminded us just how much is created by the people who come together within it. We are incredibly excited to see what emerges for each individual and from this collective sangha, and how those insights, individual and shared, ripple out through our wider community.

At the heart of Minded is a community dedicated to supporting people’s physical and mental health through yoga therapy. We see that commitment every day in the care, thought and compassion our teachers, students and graduates bring to their work.

It’s a pleasure to see this work recognised. Thank you to everyone in our wider Minded community for being part of it.

At The Minded Institute, we train yoga therapists to bring their work into healthcare.

That means learning to speak the language of health professionals, engage with current research, and look inward at the role they themselves play in therapeutic work.

Our diploma is for people ready to make yoga therapy a career of its own—and help shape the future of mind-body medicine.

This Thursday, October 1st, we’re delighted to welcome our 2026 diploma students.

Admission to the diploma is competitive, and interviews are part of the process. We’ll announce dates for our next intake in a few weeks. Join the waiting list on our website to hear the dates first and get early access to interview slots.

Starting tonight: Yoga and Psychoanalysis with Dr Lisa Kaley-Isley.

Yoga and psychoanalysis both ask how the mind works, why we suffer and what makes lasting change possible.

In this two-part online seminar, Dr Lisa Kaley-Isley explores the foundational ideas of yoga philosophy before turning to Freud’s psychoanalytic theory—revealing where these traditions describe similar ground, where they diverge and how yoga philosophy might inform mental health treatment.

Session One begins tonight at 6.30pm (UK time), with Session Two taking place on Wednesday 7 October.

Both live online sessions are included for £40.

There’s still time to join us:
