When you’re putting effort into eating well, it’s easy to let the scales decide whether it’s working.

But more energy, more comfortable digestion, changes in how your clothes fit, improved cholesterol results and feeling calmer around food all deserve recognition too.

You might notice some of these changes before others. You don’t need to tick every box for your efforts to count.

What changes have you noticed? Drop into the comments and tell me.

Save this for the next time you need a reminder that progress comes in more than one form.

No but seriously…

If you don’t want to hate being in a calorie deficit, you need to give your meals a job beyond “being low in calories” 😆

Build in protein, fibre and some healthy fats. Make them meals you actually look forward to eating.

That can make losing body fat feel more manageable, with satisfying meals and less of your afternoon spent thinking about what you can eat next.

It’s how I build all my meal plans. Nutrition calculated, meals mapped out, shopping lists ready.

You’ve got enough on your plate without needing a qualification in bricklaying 😉

Find your plan through the link in my bio.

Comforting autumn food that nourishes you well in midlife. That’s exactly what this cheesy chipotle lentil and black bean skillet is all about.

Like all my recipes, it brings together protein, fibre, healthy fats and plenty of plant variety, with flavour and satisfaction at the heart of it.

For women in their 40s and 50s who want more energy, to feel stronger and perhaps lose a little body fat, these are the foundations I come back to. Meals you enjoy eating and can realistically fit into your life.

This one delivers 27g protein and 16g fibre per portion, with smoky warmth and a bubbling cheesy topping that’s perfect for cooler autumn evenings.
It’s recipe two in my Eat What You’ve Got series, using everyday cupboard staples to make nourishing meals while keeping an eye on the food budget.

Comment DELICIOUS and I’ll send you the free recipe friend!

You can put a lot of effort into losing weight and still feel as though you’re starting again every few months.

That’s exhausting. Especially when each attempt leaves you trusting yourself a little less.

Before adding more rules, it’s worth asking: what made your last approach difficult to keep going with?

Were you hungry? Did you enjoy the food? Could it fit around work, weekends and the people you eat with?

Those answers matter. They show you where something needs to change.

This is the work I do as a nutrition and eating psychology coach: helping women make sense of their eating patterns and build practical habits that support their goals in midlife.

What’s one thing that has made previous attempts hard to sustain for you?
