THT Positive Voices Awards 2026

It was a pleasure to attend the Terrence Higgins Trust 2026 Positive Voices Awards at the Soho Curzon in London last night!

Hosted by Angelina Namiba and Katie Piper, it was an incredible evening of celebration. 14 award winners and hardly a dry eye in the house. Several Joyful Noise Choir members were recognised and celebrated as winners and or nominees: Stephen Hart, Tresca Wilson (Winners), Rebecca Mbewe, Estelle Ndungu, and LeaSuwanna Griffiths. Congratulations to Pank Sethi, Sophie Stratton, Jonathan Blake, and Sue Hunter to name just a few winners.

A wonderful reminder of all the heroes that lead this work year in and year out, and who make such a big difference in people's lives. Honestly humbled and moved, and a reminder of how much the power of showing up, using your voice, and pinning your colours to the mast counts.

This Black History Month, what better way to honour our history than by celebrating activists who not only fought for our rights, but did so in community, love, and solidarity? Here are 5 Black British activists who have shaped the community we know today, and who proved that joy and resistance can and must coexist.

Naz extends our deepest sympathies and outrage at the brutal murder of 28-year-old Mad Sandhu, a prominent Punjabi LGBT+ influencer, in Amritsar over the weekend.

Every time people say we have arrived and that there is LGTBQ+ equality, please remember the fragility of our human rights. To commit such a vile act of cowardice in one of India's holiest cities is devastating but let us be clear: we will not live in purdah, no matter how much some may wish to silence us. Naz calls on everyone to add their voice in demanding justice for Mad Sandhu and to stand firm for the fundamental right of living safely and openly.

To find community, support, and solidarity, join us at our monthly Dost group on the first Tuesday of every month in W6, or connect with us at the upcoming Kali Kiss group meeting on the 8th of October at the Southbank Centre.

This Autumn, F2B brings you Jesmyn Ward's novel, Sing, Unburied, Sing.

Drawing on the likes of Morrison, Faulkner and Homer, Ward delivers an epochal story through past and present; grappling with the ugly truths at the heart of the American story and the power, and limitations, of the bonds of family.
