Yesterday, I had the pleasure of being in a room filled with beautiful women, sharing conversations about abundance.

It was a reminder that abundance is about so much more than money.

It’s about how we think. The opportunities we allow ourselves to see. The people we surround ourselves with. And the courage to imagine a life and business that are bigger than what we currently know.

As entrepreneurs, we can become so focused on what we need to do next that we forget to pause and consider what we actually want to create.

More freedom. More impact. More meaningful relationships. More joy in the journey.

For me, the real question is not simply how much we can achieve, but how we want to feel while we’re achieving it.

I’m increasingly interested in what becomes possible when we combine ambition with a genuine sense of abundance.

Because building something extraordinary should be about more than the destination. It should be about the person we become along the way.

20+ years in beauty. One lesson I've learned: a great product is only the beginning.

From Boots and Marks & Spencer to The Body Shop, Harvey Nichols in Dubai and Heinemann, I've spent over two decades working across beauty, retail, product development and international growth.

In 2017, I founded Bespoke Advantage to help ambitious beauty founders turn ideas into commercially viable brands and build businesses with the potential to grow.

Three lessons I share with founders:
πŸ’‘ Strategy before investment. Validate your opportunity before committing to product development, packaging and marketing.
🧴 A great product needs a great business behind it. Positioning, pricing, margins and the right route to market all matter.
πŸ›οΈ Think beyond the launch. Building a sustainable beauty business takes more than creating a product or securing a retail listing.

Through Bespoke Advantage, I help founders navigate the journey from concept to shelf and beyond, bringing commercial expertise and strategic direction to every stage.

Are you building a beauty brand and want to get it right from the start β€” or take your business to its next stage of growth?

Whether you're developing your first product, preparing to launch or looking to scale, I'd love to hear from you.

Send me a DM to explore how Bespoke Advantage could support your next stage of growth.

At Bespoke Advantage we support our clients with developing beauty brands from 'concept to shelf'.

And we also support well-established international brands and embassies, with market entry and with planning their retail strategy.

Whether you are a UK brand looking to launch into the GCC region, US, Canada, Australia or Europe - or equally an international brand looking to launch into a new market - remember that every market is different, and you need to approach this with a fresh perspective.

For beauty brands, retail expansion can create exciting opportunities. But a listing alone doesn't guarantee commercial success.

Before approaching a retailer, I would want to understand:
✨ Your customer: Is there a clear reason for this retailer's customers to buy your brand?
✨ Your positioning: Does your brand have a compelling point of difference?
✨ Your commercial model: Can you support the margins, promotional activity and investment required?
✨ Your routes to growth: How will you generate awareness, trial and repeat purchase once you are listed?
✨ Your readiness: Do you have the operational capability to supply and support the account?

Market entry and retail expansion is about more than getting onto the shelf.

It is about building a proposition that works for your brand, the retailer, your customer and the market.

If you are looking for support with your market entry or retail strategy, DM me to discuss how we can help you.

Building a beauty business can be an incredibly rewarding journey.

It can also seem overwhelming.

There are so many decisions to make, from developing the right product and finding your customer to securing retail opportunities, managing cash flow and planning for growth.

And sometimes, what you need most isn't another article or another opinion.
It's a conversation with someone who has been there.

An introduction to the right person. An expert who can help you see things differently.

Or a community that understands the challenges you're navigating.

This is why I believe so strongly in the power of connection in the beauty industry.

Through Beauty to Life, I want to help bring founders, experts and industry professionals together to share knowledge, build relationships and create opportunities.

Because building a business is hard enough. You shouldn't have to figure everything out alone.

Before you invest in producing your beauty product, make sure you have answered these five questions.

1. Is there a real customer need?
Being excited about your idea is a starting point. Understanding why someone would buy it is what matters.

2. Is your proposition clear?
What makes your product different, relevant and worth choosing over the alternatives?

3. Have you tested the concept?
Gather meaningful feedback on the product idea, claims, positioning and price before committing to a large production run.

4. Does the product work commercially?
Understand your costs, target retail price, margins, minimum order quantities and investment requirements.

5. Do you know how you will sell it?
Your route to market should inform product decisions from the beginning, not become an afterthought once production is complete.

Product development is about more than creating something wonderful. It is about creating something people want, at a price that works, with a realistic route to market.

The decisions you make before production can shape the future of your brand.
And if you are looking for support with developing your brand – DM me.

A beautiful product is not enough to build a successful beauty brand.

I see so much creativity, passion and innovation in this industry. But the brands that succeed commercially understand something important: a great product is only the beginning.

You also need to know who you are selling to, why they should choose you, where your product belongs, how you will reach your customer and whether the numbers actually work.

Product excellence gets you into the conversation. Commercial strategy helps you build a business.

For founders building their next beauty brand, this is worth thinking about before investing heavily in product development, packaging or marketing.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing beauty founders today?

12/10/2026

One of the biggest lessons my experience in the beauty industry has taught me is that success rarely comes down to one thing.

It is the combination of the right product, a clear brand proposition, commercial understanding, strong relationships and knowing how to navigate the market you want to enter.

I have seen how much opportunity there is in beauty. I have also seen how easily good ideas can lose momentum when the strategy behind them isn't strong enough.

That is why I believe in bringing together creativity and commercial thinking.

The beauty industry needs both.

And the most interesting work happens when the two come together.

What has been the biggest lesson your own journey in beauty has taught you?
