From Clinical Evidence to Global Adoption

September 5, 2026 | Shenzhen, China📍

Developing an innovative medical device is only the beginning of the journey.

The next challenge is turning innovation into solutions that can be trusted and adopted globally.

🌟At the CVC 2026 International MedTech Innovation Forum, discussions moved beyond product development and focused on a critical question:

How can Chinese MedTech innovation create global clinical value?

For medical devices entering international markets, regulatory approval is only the first step.

As Danielle Giroud shared during the forum, global evaluation requires more than technical performance. Strong clinical evidence needs to demonstrate safety, effectiveness and meaningful patient benefit in a way that can be recognized across different healthcare systems.

But global adoption requires more than regulatory approval.

As highlighted by Lily Chen, different countries have different healthcare systems, procurement pathways and market environments. Successful international expansion requires understanding local clinical needs, building trusted reference centers and establishing long-term collaboration with physicians.

The roundtable discussion brought together clinicians, industry experts and innovation leaders to explore how to build a more efficient MedTech ecosystem — connecting clinical needs, technological development, evidence generation and global collaboration.

Throughout the forum, one message became clear:

Innovation creates impact when clinical insight meets engineering capability and global collaboration.

From China to the world, the future of MedTech will be built on solutions that address real clinical challenges and create meaningful value for patients.

From Clinical Need to MedTech Innovation

September 5, 2026 | Shenzhen, China📍

Where does meaningful MedTech innovation really begin?

🌟At the CVC 2026 International MedTech Innovation Forum, clinicians, engineers, researchers and industry leaders came together around one shared idea:

Real innovation starts with a real clinical problem.

Co-chaired by Prof. Shu Chang, Prof. Yichong Li and Prof. Vincent Riambau, the forum brought together perspectives from China and abroad.

Prof. Yichong Li opened the discussion from the perspective of the Greater Bay Area, highlighting that for Chinese MedTech companies with global ambitions, international clinical evidence should be considered from the very beginning — including MRCT design, population differences, data quality and cross-regional verification.

Leading Chinese clinicians then shared real-world cases and translational experience in complex aortic arch reconstruction, false lumen management in aortic dissection, and pulmonary artery thrombectomy, showing how unmet clinical needs can drive device design, validation and continuous improvement.

These discussions showed that MedTech innovation rarely follows a straight line. It moves continuously between clinical practice, engineering and evidence generation.

Ultimately, the value of a medical device is proven in clinical practice.

Clinical Need → Engineering → Evidence → Better Solutions

The judges emphasized clinical reasoning, surgical strategy, global perspectives, and real-world evidence, turning each case presentation into a high-level training session.

Insightful Debates & Future Leaders
During the competition, eight young physicians from top medical centers across China presented complex cases in English, covering topics such as aortic pseudoaneurysm in pregnancy, post-TEVAR endoleak management, long-term care for type B aortic dissection, and challenging post-operative infections.
The judges provided multidimensional comments, stimulating lively discussion and fully demonstrating the accelerating integration of China’s young doctors into the international academic system.

As one of the chair professors noted:
“Awards are not the end; the real value lies in the exchange of clinical logic and technical resonance – that is the true significance of this stage.”

Awards & Global Opportunities
All participants received the "Pioneer in Healing" honorary certificate. The three top awards went to:

🌟Luminary – awarded to Dr. Zhang Yu (West China Hospital), including a fully supported trip to attend SITE 2026 in Spain.
