Your crunching knee could be related to your quads.

When you stand up or take the stairs, your quads should help carry the weight that goes through your knee. If they don't, your knee ends up doing more of the work, which can cause that crunching feeling.

Here are two moves to help build that strength:

👉 Seated knee extension: band around your ankle, straighten your knee out, hold for 10 seconds, relax. 5–10 reps.
👉 Wall squat: ball or foam roller in the small of your back, feet out in front, hold the squat for 10 seconds, knees over your toes.

Both exercises should put effort through your quads. If these movements cause knee pain, try moving your feet further forward.

Repeat once or twice a day.

Your sore neck or back could be related to your core.

Your core supports your spine all day, every day. When it's weak, your neck and back carry the extra load.

Simon shares a simple core progression to build core strength that takes pressure off your neck and back.

It should be pain-free on your neck and spine, with a burn through your stomach instead.

One move that challenges, strengthens and stabilises your whole body.

The Turkish get-up trains your shoulders, hips and core simultaneously, building the kind of foundational strength that supports how you move day to day.

👉 Dumbbell above your shoulder
👉 Roll up to sit
👉 Rise to half-kneeling, then stand
👉 Reverse it slowly on the way down

Aim for about 10 reps, stopping before your form starts to falter.

Is low back pain making everyday tasks like unloading your shopping bags hard? This exercise could help.

Bending, lifting and twisting throughout the day can put real strain on your trunk and low back.

Once those muscles start struggling to handle the load, that's usually when the pain shows up.

This banded squat and twist builds the strength and endurance around your trunk and low back that everyday tasks rely on.

Start with 8 to 10 reps, and once that's manageable, progress to a lunge-and-twist to challenge yourself further.

Most people ignore a shoulder twinge.

Swipe through to decide if yours needs attention.

It might ache when you reach overhead, disturb your sleep, or flare up after a swim. Small things that disrupt your day.

Physiotherapist Joy walks through a simple resistance band exercise that targets the rotator cuff and can help find relief.

👉 Use a light band. This exercise is about rotation, not resistance
👉 Keep your elbow tucked. If it drifts, the exercise stops working
👉 3 sets of 12 reps. Slow and controlled on the way back in
👉 No pain. If you feel any, stop immediately

If it’s not settling after a week or two, it’s worth getting an assessment.

Book via the link in our bio.

✅ Save this if your shoulder’s been bothering you.

Wimbledon Village’s annual window competition is back, where local businesses in the village go head-to-head for the title of best tennis-themed window.

This year, Nordic Balance Director Joanna Meyer has hand-spray-painted the Nordic Balance window around the theme Love All, Serve All, with details inspired by the world’s most famous tennis tournament. 🍓

She puts a lot of care and creativity into this every year, so we’d love everyone to get behind her. All you need to do is vote for Nordic Balance by clicking the three stars.

Are you feeling pain at the front of your neck after hours of screen time?

Looking down all day tightens those muscles.

Here's a stretch that helps:

👉 Keep the shoulder down
👉 Tilt your ear to the opposite shoulder
👉 Slowly turn your chin up towards the sky

Hold for a minute, or break into 20-second pulses.

Save this for next time.

Sound familiar? Book via the link whenever you're ready.

Have you ever noticed that your hip pain is always worse on one side?

This banded side leg raise targets the outer hip muscles that keep both sides stable and even when you move.

When they're underworked, your body compensates, and you feel it as that familiar one-sided ache.

Simple to do at home, but you'll feel exactly which muscles are working.

Resistance band around the ankles, hands on the wall, and take one leg out to the side as far as you can.
Toes are staying in contact with the floor the whole time.
Three sets of ten on each side.

If your hip pain still hasn't shifted after trying exercises like this, it's worth coming in to see us.
