There's a specific smell to the first proper rain after a dry spell, wet stone, cool air, something mineral underneath it all. Petrichor, technically. This is one of the accords in Terror and Magnificence.

The wet stone accord sits in the base, grounding the incense, myrrh and Kyphi in something tangible. Hawksmoor's churches inspired the fragrance, and London's first summer rain inspired that particular note, stone that's been baked all season finally meeting water.

Astonishing and unsettling in equal measure, but rooted in something you've smelled a hundred times on a warm pavement.

"O absent presence, Stella is not here"

October is the month for ghosts, and this is ours.

The fifth and final instalment of the Revenants collection takes its inspiration from Sir Philip Sidney's sonnet sequence Astrophel and Stella. Stella is everywhere in the poems and nowhere at once. She never speaks. She is only ever felt.

A perfume works the same way. It has no body. It lingers in a room after you've left it, and on a scarf long after the wearer has gone.

Absent Presence holds the highest proportion of natural ingredients of any BeauFort fragrance, with typically overdosed violet leaf absolute, vetiver bourbon oil, smoky leather and black pepper oil. Like all of the Revenants, it is presented at 30% Eau de Parfum.
