Kids Can Achieve Supporting children with Special Needs and Disabilities and their families for over 20 years.

Kids Can Achieve was formed in October 2002 by local parents, concerned professionals and members of the community in Harrow. It was formed to support local children and young people whose educational, emotional, social and psychological difficulties were not being recognised. As a result of this gap in provision these children were developing complex behaviours and lacked the social and coping skills which enable them to learn, play and socialise and have normal life opportunities. The organisation has grown rapidly and has quickly become influential and respected amongst both statutory and voluntary agencies and most importantly the families they serve. Demand for our services has increased as our profile has risen and despite our successes, we are conscious of an urgent need to expand and develop these services further. Since 2014 we have been working in partnership with The Westminster Society and we are in the process of a formal merger. We now provide a wide range of innovative services for children and young people with disabilities and their families. We involve, consult and include families so that they are key decision makers in the development of our services. Our excellent service provision is reflected in our commitment to meet the
individual needs of the people we support with
dedicated trained staff. Our emphasis is on building effective and supportive partnerships with families. Providing care and support in a safe and nurturing environment is our top priority.

Our Family Service has made a big impact this year.

They've helped 486 families of children with special needs, with free-to-access advice, information and support.

They have been there to help families through difficult moments and find the right support. They have also celebrated with them at lots of events. Their advice received a national mark that shows it is a very high standard (Advice Quality Standard).

Well done to all our team. 👏 Thank you to everyone who has donated and helped this service to continue for families and young people who count on us.

Oje is ten years old and is autistic. He has complex needs and finds communicating difficult. Last year his school were not able to support him anymore.

His parents were worried they'd have to give up their jobs. Oje then began coming to Kids Can Achieve during school time and it's made a huge difference.

KCA and our Family Service have been really important for Oje and his family. This is what Oje's dad said:💬

KCA staff members gave a speech at the Mayor of Harrow's Charity Gala Dinner on Friday to kick off his year of fundraising for his chosen charities. 🎤

Emma (marketing manager) and Cheryl (service access coordinator) spoke about what we do at KCA and how we support children and young people with special needs. They also spoke about how important KCA is for parents and the wider Harrow community. 💜

KCA is the local charity that the Mayor of Harrow, Councillor Yogesh Teli, has picked for his charity appeal this year.

We were grateful to have the chance to tell people about KCA, raise awareness and fundraise to continue supporting children with special needs and families in Harrow.
