Discovering a partner’s compulsive s*xual behaviour or s*x addiction is often deeply destabilising.

When that trust is broken, the impact and betrayal can feel overwhelming.

You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Innisfree Therapy Ltd is introducing our new specialised group programme β€œPhoenix Partners”, designed to support those affected by their partner’s compulsive s*xual behaviour (CSB) / s*x addiction.

This structured, trauma-informed group offers a safe, confidential space to begin processing what you’re experiencing alongside others who truly understand.

What this programme offers:

β€’ A deeper understanding of CSB-related relational trauma
β€’ Tools to stabilise overwhelming thoughts and emotions
β€’ Support with boundaries, trust, and self-reconnection
β€’ A professionally held space grounded in compassion, not judgment

Programme details:

β€’ 8 x 90-minute sessions over 6 weeks
β€’ Tuesdays & Thursdays at 12pm (online via secure Zoom)
β€’ Small group (6–8 participants)
β€’ Facilitated by highly skilled trauma-informed clinicians with expertise in compulsive
s*xual behaviour and addiction.

Investment:

Phoenix Partners is offered as a complimentary programme for partners of clients enrolled in Level 1 and Level 2 Intensive Programmes at Innisfree Therapy.

For those engaged in individual therapy or Level 3 and Level 4 Intensives, the programme is available at a reduced rate.

Phoenix Partners can also be accessed as a standalone offering, with the option to integrate individual partner sessions or couples therapy for more tailored support.

Chemistry is not connection.
Intensity is not love.

If you find yourself drawn to emotionally unavailable or avoidant partners, it may be because your early childhood relationships were marked by inconsistency, chaos, uncertainty, emotional neglect, or abandonment.

Now in adulthood, you may seek similar dynamics, even though these kinds of relationships leave you feeling anxious and unsure of where you stand.

We are drawn to what we know, and we seek familiarity even when it’s not healthy for us.

For people struggling with love addiction or codependency, recognising these attachment patterns is an important step towards change.

At Innisfree Therapy, our trauma-informed approach helps clients explore the roots of compulsive relationship patterns and develop healthier ways of connecting with themselves and others.

Read our blog "Why Love Feels Like a Lifeline: Understanding Love Addiction, Codependency, and Attachment Trauma" to understand the connection between love addiction, codependency and attachment trauma.

When infidelity or compulsive s*xual behaviour comes to light, the impact on a relationship can be devastating.

Both partners need support, but their therapeutic needs are often very different.

At Innisfree Therapy, we recognise the importance of addressing these challenges individually and together.

Our specialist services include individual psychotherapy, intensive programmes, our Phoenix Partners Programme, psychoeducation, group therapy and couples therapy.

Where appropriate and with the necessary consent, our therapists work collaboratively to support each person's therapeutic journey as part of a coordinated approach.

Founder and CEO Rob Watt explains how our integrated approach helps individuals and couples navigate betrayal, understand the underlying issues and work towards meaningful, lasting change.

Is your nervous system in a constant state of fight/flight/freeze?

Those overwhelming feelings are often because of past trauma and a persistent feeling of shame.

Shame tells us we’re unlovable, worthless and too broken to be helped.

Shame gets in the way of being vulnerable because we believe that if someone saw the truth, they’d leave.

At Innisfree Therapy, our trauma models help clients explore the roots of their compulsive s*xual behaviours and shift feelings of shame to safety and connection.

What happens when s*x becomes a way of coping with emotional pain?

For some people struggling with s*x addiction or compulsive s*xual behaviour (CSB), their s*xual behaviours become a way to numb themselves to feelings or regain a sense of control.

But the escape and relief are often short-lived, reinforcing a cycle of compulsion, shame and secrecy.

This is why understanding the connection between trauma and s*x addiction is so important to recovery.

At Innisfree Therapy, our specialist therapists use an integrated approach, including EMDR, Somatic Trauma Therapy and relational psychotherapy, to help clients address underlying trauma and develop healthier ways of coping.

πŸ”— Explore the connection between unresolved trauma and compulsive s*xual behaviour in our blog, Why Understanding Trauma is Vital to Overcoming S*x Addiction.

Treating compulsive s*xual behaviour involves more than simply stopping the behaviour.

For many people struggling with s*x addiction or compulsive s*xual behaviours (CSB), the underlying issues are rooted in trauma, attachment difficulties and patterns of emotional regulation.

At Innisfree Therapy, our approach goes beyond abstinence. We combine trauma-informed psychotherapy with a psychos*xual perspective to help clients understand the underlying drivers of their behaviours, develop healthier ways of regulating emotions and build a more fulfilling relationship with themselves and others.

In this episode of Innisfree Insights, Founder and CEO Rob Watt explains why moving beyond a traditional addiction model can create opportunities for meaningful, sustained change.

Not every mental health challenge is visible.

Someone might look extremely confident and in control, but privately they could be struggling.

For example, we might notice depression or overwhelming anxiety, but what about compulsive behaviours, p**nography use, or love addiction?

This World Mental Health Day, we're recognising the many ways mental health challenges can affect our lives.

At Innisfree Therapy, we understand that compulsive behaviours and addictions are rarely just about the behaviour itself.

Our trauma-informed approach helps clients explore the underlying emotional and psychological difficulties, develop healthier coping strategies and create lasting change.

We feel incredibly honoured knowing our Phoenix Partners Programme, a specialised psychoeducational group programme to support partners in safely processing the rupture within the relationship, is making such a difference in our clients' lives.

"The Phoenix Partners programme provided great support at a time when I really needed it. The educational component was incredibly helpful to me, helping me to start to understand some of the underlying issues I was facing. Being able to meet and work with other partners who were going through their own journey and healing process at the same time was very reassuring. I learned a lot through their contributions and it made me realise that I wasn’t the only person in the world experiencing this situation. I felt less alone." - Sarah
