There’s a double page spread I’ve illustrated in ‘s new book A Brave Life called Life Loves in Cycles

It really made me realise how our entire world and universe works on circular systems and how all of those systems are interconnected. It was a fascinating exploration for me and I hope it is for you too.

I also think it really shows how we are connected to nature and therefore why it’s SO important we honour these systems and work with them rather than ignoring them.

A Brave life is out on the 15th October but you can pre order now

I have this theory that we aren’t using our hands enough and they are the most underrated wellbeing tool in our whole body.

Over 380 million years our hands have evolved to be this incredible and highly technical piece of kit but all we do is use them for tapping and swiping ! What a damn waste.

Hand to eye coordination they talk about in kids is vital all through our lives. When we use our hands our brains light up all over so it’s no wonder that cooking/ gardening/ painting makes us feel so good. When we use our hands we also can enter a state of flow which is a form of meditation - I see it in my classes when everyone falls silent.

Another important practise is writing and is why journaling is so good for us . It’s as if what’s in our brains comes out through our hands…once someone told me they journaled in the notes section of their phone. Sorry but that’s not the same thing…journaling needs to be done by hand.

It’s why when kids revise they tell them to write things down or when I do a speech I write proper notes - it works the brain better than doing something digital.

If you don’t want to paint, play a sport that involves your hands, do gardening, cooking, writing, play an instrument….don’t waste your hands (and 380 years of evolution)) tapping on your phone. They are way too darn clever for that!

Life lately - its been a crazy busy September . Here are some highlights:

1-3 Last week Ancient + Brave launched A Brave Life book which is all about why we should be looking to nature, the earth, our ancestry and ancient wisdom for wellness . I’m honoured to have done the illustrations. They made this beautiful bookmark out of one of my moth drawings. Officially launches 15th October but you can preorder now

4. Brilliant founder of Ancient + Brave Kate Prince and equally awesome Lucy Miller Nutrition who I’ve know since we were little

5. My eldest beautiful daughter has gone to uni . I miss her dreadfully. There have been a lot of big moments in parenthood but this is very big - when they leave home for the first time. Do not wish away the school journeys or the chaos of motherhood as before you know it the house is very quiet.

6-8. Last week I was invited by Alitex Glasshouses who make some of the world’s most beautiful glass and greenhouses to their HQ. There was a brilliant interview with the magical Julius Roberts who then cooked us an insanely tasty lunch.

9-12. I’ve done quite a few art workshops this month from Double Red Duke to teaching the team from Six Senses Thyme and hosting an art workshop Mall Galleries

13-14 I’ve used the brilliant Chippy Flower Farm: naturally grown cut flowers, Chipping Norton for all the amazing flowers for my events

15 The Double Red Duke so stylishDouble Red Duket

16 There was one of these jackets left in the Wiggy Kit beautiful new shWiggy Kit sort of fell into my bag

17 The ceramics I bought in Puglia have arrived

18 Painting passion fruits for a special project

They said the year of the firehorse was going to be fast and furious and for me it has been non stop.

There’s been a lot of hard graft, so many amazing clients and I am so grateful for every late night, working weekend and tiny, hand drawn second of it .

To be doing the thing I love the most - being creative - is such a privilege for me and I can’t wait to do so much more of it

Feeling so grateful today and so grateful that the universe stopped me from being sat at my desk for the rest of my life

Please, do the thing you love. Use your hands. Get back to being human again.

I felt SO honoured to have been asked to host a creative wellbeing and painting class this week by at the

If you don’t know them are an incredible foundation that work tirelessly to protect endangered species from snow leopards to elephants and lions. They work with governments and on the ground worldwide in their quest to keep these species thriving. It is such important work . They are also currently hosting the Wildlife Artist of the Year Awards at the Mall Galleries (last day today if you’d like to go it’s ace and all proceeds go to this incredible charity).

Thank you so much to for gifting my guests with amazing clarity Tinctures and to for the wonderful watercolour sets and paper.

If you’d told me two years ago (as I was sat feeling competely uninspired at my computer) that I’d be doing things like this I’d have said ‘in my dreams!!!’ I am beyond grateful for all the wonderful projects I’m being asked to work on at the moment

Feeling a bit emosh with gratitude

What I say to people when they tell me they can’t paint or draw! I’m hosting two painting classes next where I will also focus on the wellbeing benefits of creativity.

The first is in Tuesday where I’m hosting an a Mindful painting class near Clanfield 10-2 pm which includes a delicious lunch . There are still some spaces left.

Then on Thursday I’m hosting a Botanical watercolour and creative wellness workshop in London. I think there’s one space left so go quick 11-2 pm (no lunch!!)

Please book in links in my bio

Hope to see you there

Don’t ever want this Summer to end. I sobbed when I left Puglia this week. Bella is off to uni and I just want to freeze us all in time.

We love being with friends but it’s our favourite thing in the world being just the five of us, it feels like we all come back together in every sense, we hang out, I paint, we are goofy, and properly, really, deeply relax.I am so grateful for all of you, this family, our closeness and love you all beyond the stars .evanspollard .evans.pollard and Beanie.

And please PLEASE will you always come on holiday with us
