It’s so lovely to see that there are now so many different sound baths and holistic sessions happening around the Forest. 🌳✨
It really is such a wonderful thing.
But something I’ve noticed recently is that a few people have come to one of my sessions after trying a sound bath somewhere else and saying:
“I wasn’t really sure it was for me.”
“I didn’t really enjoy it.”
“I didn’t feel anything.”
“I left feeling a bit… meh.”
And I completely understand why that might put you off trying another one.
But I think it’s really important to know that sound baths aren’t all the same.
Just because you’ve been to one doesn’t mean you’ve experienced every type of sound bath. 🤍
Different practitioners use different instruments, different sounds, different volumes and different techniques.
Some sessions are very sound-focused, with deep, powerful and immersive sounds.
Some are much softer and more gentle.
Some include lots of guided meditation and visualisation.
Some incorporate breathwork, energy healing, Reiki, crystals, chimes or other practices.
Some are very structured, while others are more intuitive and flow with the energy of the group.
And some practitioners, like myself, bring several different elements together to create a whole experience rather than simply listening to the bowls.
There really is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to sound healing. 🌿
We’ve all trained differently, learnt from different teachers and developed our own individual ways of working and holding space.
And that means you might absolutely love one person’s session and not connect with another person’s style.
That doesn’t mean one is right and the other is wrong.
It simply means they’re different.
Even the same person can have completely different experiences depending on where they are emotionally, physically and energetically when they attend.
For my sessions, I personally love creating a warm, safe and calming space where you can completely switch off from everything outside the room.
I combine crystal singing bowls, Koshi chimes, guided meditation and Reiki-infused energy, and I allow the session to gently unfold rather than expecting you to experience anything in particular.
You don’t need to know anything about sound healing.
You don’t need to meditate.
You don’t need to “feel” anything.
You simply come, get comfortable, close your eyes if you want to, and allow yourself some time to rest. 🤍
And I think that’s why it’s so important not to judge sound healing based on one experience.
If you’ve tried one and it wasn’t for you, maybe that particular style wasn’t for you.
And that’s completely okay even if that session was mine.
Please don’t give up on it because there are so many different practitioners, spaces and styles to explore.
We aren’t in competition with each other. 🌿 I’m happy to listen to what you didn’t enjoy about a session however I won’t judge or slate another therapist.
I genuinely love seeing more opportunities for people to experience different forms of holistic wellbeing locally.
We’re all offering something slightly different, and somewhere amongst all those different sessions, you may just find the one that makes you think…
“Ahhh… this is exactly what I needed.” 🤍
Find what resonates with you.
Find the practitioner whose energy feels comfortable.
Find the style of session that allows you to properly relax.
And if that’s one of my sound baths, I’d be honoured to share that space with you.
But most importantly keep exploring until you find what feels right for you - it doesn’t need to be the most expensive or the one with the most instruments or a longer session to be what’s right for YOU ✨
With love & blessings 🌿
