Stress feels different with hypnotherapy.

After hypnotherapy, many people describe feeling stress as less overwhelming and more distant, with physical tension easing more quickly and emotional reactions feeling calmer or more manageable.

What typically changes in the experience of stress?

🍂 Hypnotherapy often works by shifting how the mind interprets stress signals and how the body responds to them. People commonly report:

🍃 Reduced physical tension — muscle tightness, stomach knots, or racing heart may settle faster because hypnotherapy can strengthen the body’s relaxation response.

🍁 A calmer internal dialogue — intrusive or spiralling thoughts may feel quieter or easier to interrupt.

🍂 More emotional distance — stressors may feel less personal or less threatening, as if you’re observing them rather than being consumed by them.

🍃 Greater sense of control — people often feel more capable of choosing how to respond instead of reacting automatically.

🍁 Quicker recovery — even when stress appears, it may pass sooner and feel less draining.

Online hypnotherapy sessions available
Tuesday to Saturday 9am - 6pm

IS YOUR MORNING BREW INCOMPLETE WITHOUT A CIGARETTE?

☕ 🚬 🚬 🚬 This Stoptober, change the routine.

For many smokers, it’s not just about the ni****ne. It’s the routine.

The kettle goes on. The tea or coffee gets poured. Then comes the cigarette — almost without thinking.

Maybe it’s how you start every morning. Maybe it’s your moment of peace before the day begins.

But what if you could enjoy your morning brew without needing a cigarette to go with it?

This Stoptober, why not make a change?

It typically takes 21 days to form a smoking habit and 21 days to replace the habit with a healthier choice.

A hypnotherapy stop smoking programme gives time for:

Repetition of suggestions, which strengthens new thought patterns and weakens old ones. Hypnosis can help to replace the learned association of smoking as a coping mechanism with healthier responses.

Addressing psychological triggers, such as stress, emotional habits, or routines that keep smoking in place.

Learning self‑hypnosis together with other techniques which Therapy HQ Ltd teach so you can reinforce the suggestions whenever cravings arise

Gradual change, since many smoking behaviours are automatic and deeply ingrained; daily sessions help shift these subconscious patterns

Hypnotherapy may help you work on the habits, triggers and associations that keep smoking part of your daily routine — so you can start building a different relationship with your morning cuppa.

☕ Same brew. Same you. A new way to start the day.

At Therapy HQ Ltd, I offer a supportive stop-smoking hypnotherapy programme to help you work towards a smoke-free future.

YOUR MIND IS WORRYING ABOUT TOMORROW ...... AND IT'S EXHAUSTING YOU TODAY

💭 Anticipatory Anxiety: When You Worry About Things That Haven't Happened Yet

Have you ever worried about something that's happening tomorrow, next week, or even months from now?

You imagine what could go wrong.
You replay conversations before they've even happened.
You prepare for every possible outcome.
You struggle to relax because your mind keeps asking, “But what if…?”

😔 You might find yourself:

🔹 Worrying for days before an appointment.
🔹 Feeling anxious about an upcoming event.
🔹 Dreading a journey, meeting or social situation.
🔹 Imagining the worst-case scenario.
🔹 Experiencing physical symptoms of anxiety before anything has happened.
🔹 Feeling exhausted by something you haven't even had to deal with yet.

This is anticipatory anxiety — when the thought of a future situation triggers anxiety in the present.

Your mind may be trying to prepare you for danger, but constantly expecting the worst can leave you feeling overwhelmed before the day has even begun.

💙 So, how can hypnotherapy help?

Hypnotherapy may help you work on the thought patterns, emotional responses and fears associated with anxiety. Combined with CBT-informed techniques, it can support you in developing a different relationship with anxious thoughts and building confidence in how you respond to them.

🌿 You can begin to experience calm without carrying every worry about tomorrow.

If anticipatory anxiety is affecting your everyday life, contact Therapy HQ to arrange a free consultation and explore whether hypnotherapy may be suitable for you.

😟 Are you afraid of having another panic attack?

Sometimes the panic attack itself isn't the only problem.

It can be the fear of when the next one might happen.

You might start thinking:

💭 “What if it happens while I'm driving?”

💭 “What if I panic in a shop?”

💭 “What if I can't get out?”

💭 “What if people notice?”

💭 “What if I lose control?”

Those thoughts can make you constantly monitor how you're feeling — and that can keep your body and mind on high alert.

You may even start avoiding places or situations where you've previously experienced panic.

And suddenly, your world can start getting smaller.

Hypnotherapy, alongside appropriate therapeutic techniques, may help you explore the thoughts, feelings and patterns surrounding anxiety and panic, helping you develop a greater sense of calm and control.

You don't have to simply put up with living around your panic.

If panic attacks or anxiety are affecting your everyday life, get in touch to discuss whether hypnotherapy may be suitable for you.

🚭 Stoptober: Is it really the cigarette you want… or the feeling it gives you?

Sometimes smoking isn't just about ni****ne.

It can become linked to:

☕ Your morning coffee
🚗 Driving to work
😤 Stressful moments
🍷 Socialising
😰 Feeling anxious
⏰ Taking a break
🧠 Needing something to focus on

Over time, your brain can start to associate certain situations, emotions and routines with reaching for a cigarette or v**e.

And that's why stopping can feel so difficult.

Hypnotherapy may help you break some of those associations and support you in changing the habits and thought patterns around smoking.

If you've been thinking “I really want to stop, but I just can't seem to do it” — Stoptober could be a good time to start.

💚 CPTSD AWARENESS MONTH 💚

WHEN YOU FEEL TRIGGERED, WHAT CAN YOU DO?

When your nervous system suddenly reacts, it can be difficult to remember that you're safe in the present.

You might feel anxious.

Your thoughts might race.

Your heart may be pounding.

You may want to escape, fix the situation, make everyone happy or completely shut down.

In those moments, telling yourself "calm down" usually isn't very helpful.

Instead, try creating a little more space between the trigger and your response.

🌿 1. Pause

If you can, don't rush into solving the problem.

Give yourself a moment before responding to that message, conversation or situation.

🌿 2. Notice what's happening

Try asking yourself:

"What am I noticing in my body right now?"

Maybe your shoulders are tense.

Your breathing has changed.

Your stomach feels tight.

You're restless or you feel completely numb.

You don't have to change it immediately.

Just noticing can be a first step.

🌿 3. Look around you

Gently bring your attention to the present moment.

Notice where you are.

What can you see?

What can you hear?

What can you feel beneath your feet or against your chair?

You're reminding yourself:

"I am here, in this moment."

🌿 4. Ask: "What do I need right now?"

Not:

"What does everyone else need from me?"

Not:

"How do I make this okay for everyone?"

But:

"What do I need?"

Perhaps you need space.

A glass of water.

A walk.

Quiet.

Connection with someone you trust.

Or simply time before making a decision.

🌿 5. Remember that a reaction isn't a failure

Sometimes your response may feel bigger than the situation in front of you.

That doesn't mean you're broken.

It may mean you've been activated.

With appropriate support, you can gradually learn to recognise your patterns and develop different ways of responding.

And this is where therapeutic approaches including Solution Focused Hypnotherapy for appropriate clients may form part of a wider support plan.

The goal isn't to never become triggered.

It's to gradually develop more awareness, more choice and more confidence in how you respond.

💚 You are not your trauma response.

Your nervous system learned ways of protecting you.

And with the right support, new responses can be practised.

If you're currently receiving treatment for PTSD or CPTSD, please discuss any additional therapy with your healthcare professional.

CPTSD & HYPNOTHERAPY — WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS?

If you've experienced complex trauma, the idea of starting therapy can sometimes feel daunting.

You might wonder:

"Will I have to talk about everything that happened?"

"Will I have to relive painful memories?"

"What if I become overwhelmed?"

"What actually happens during hypnotherapy?"

These are completely understandable questions.

A Solution Focused Hypnotherapy session isn't about forcing you to revisit traumatic experiences or uncovering memories you're not ready to talk about.

Instead, we can focus on where you are now and where you'd like to be.

🌿 We might explore what you're experiencing

For example, you may notice anxiety, hypervigilance, overthinking, people pleasing, difficulty relaxing, low confidence or feeling overwhelmed.

Understanding your current patterns can help you begin to recognise what your mind and body are responding to.

🌿 We can focus on what you want more of

Rather than making the trauma the centre of every conversation, we can explore questions such as:

"How would you like to feel instead?"

"What would feeling safer look like in everyday life?"

"What would you like to be able to do differently?"

🌿 Relaxation and focused attention can be used

Hypnosis involves a naturally occurring state of focused attention and absorption.

During a session, relaxation, imagery and therapeutic suggestion may be used to help you practise different ways of responding to stress.

The aim isn't to force your nervous system to switch off.

It's about creating opportunities to experience greater calm, awareness and choice.

🌿 You remain in control

You don't lose control during hypnosis.

You don't have to reveal anything you don't want to share.

And you don't have to revisit traumatic memories in order to work towards positive changes in your present life.

For people experiencing significant trauma symptoms, appropriate trauma-focused psychological support remains important. Hypnotherapy may be considered as a complementary approach, depending on the individual and their circumstances.

There isn't one "right" way to heal.

And you don't have to rush.

💚 If you're curious about whether Solution Focused Hypnotherapy could be appropriate for you, you're welcome to contact me for a free 20-minute consultation.

💚CPTSD & Relationships - 3/3 💚

Where can Solution Focused Hypnotherapy fit?

If you've recognised yourself in Parts 1 and 2, you might be wondering:

"How do I actually change these patterns?"

Understanding where a pattern came from can be valuable.
But you don't always need to repeatedly revisit painful experiences in order to begin developing different ways of responding.

This is where a Solution Focused approach can be helpful.

Rather than focusing primarily on analysing everything that has happened in the past, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy looks at where you are now, where you want to go, and what you can begin doing differently.

🌿 Working with your nervous system

When you've experienced prolonged stress or trauma, your nervous system can sometimes remain on high alert even when you're safe in the present.

You might experience:

• Hypervigilance
• Anxiety or panic
• Racing thoughts
• Difficulty relaxing
• People pleasing
• Feeling overwhelmed
• Shutting down or withdrawing

Hypnotherapy uses focused attention, relaxation, imagery and therapeutic suggestion to help you practise different responses.
The aim isn't to force your body to relax.

It's to create opportunities to experience and practise a greater sense of calm and control.

1. Building a greater sense of calm

If your nervous system is used to being "on guard", relaxation can sometimes feel unfamiliar. Gentle relaxation, breathing, imagery and body awareness can help you notice what happens when your body begins to settle. Rather than forcing relaxation, the process can be gradual and collaborative. The goal is to build more choice in how you respond to stress.

2. Changing your relationship with the inner critic

Trauma can contribute to a harsh internal voice.

You may hear thoughts such as:

"I'm not good enough."
"It's always my fault."
"I have to keep everyone happy."
"I can't trust myself."

Solution Focused work can help you develop a more compassionate and useful internal dialogue, while strengthening awareness of your abilities, resources and progress.
The aim isn't to pretend difficult experiences didn't happen.
It's to give the present-day you a stronger, more supportive voice.

3. Responding differently to triggers

Hypnotherapy cannot erase memories or guarantee that triggers will disappear.

Instead, guided imagery and mental rehearsal can be used to practise responding differently to situations that currently create anxiety, overwhelm or hypervigilance.

For example, you might rehearse:

• Pausing rather than immediately reacting
• Communicating a need calmly
• Setting a boundary
• Staying grounded during disagreement
• Recognising when you're becoming overwhelmed
• Choosing a response rather than automatically falling into an old pattern
The focus becomes:
"What would I like to be able to do differently?"

4. Developing healthier boundaries

If you've spent years putting other people's needs before your own, healthy boundaries can initially feel uncomfortable.

You can practise:

• Saying no without excessive guilt
• Asking for what you need
• Recognising your own needs and preferences
• Allowing other people to have their own emotions
• Tolerating someone else's disappointment
• Remembering that keeping someone happy isn't your responsibility

Small changes can create more freedom and choice.
What about body-based work?

Some hypnotherapy sessions may incorporate gentle body awareness—noticing breathing, muscle tension, physical sensations and changes in arousal.

This isn't about forcing the body to "release stored trauma".
It's about becoming more aware of your body's signals and learning ways of responding to them with greater calm and curiosity.

A gentle, forward-focused approach

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy isn't about forcing you to relive painful experiences or digging into memories before you're ready.
It's about looking at what you want your life and relationships to feel like going forward, and helping you develop the resources and responses that support that future.

If you're experiencing significant trauma symptoms, PTSD or CPTSD, hypnotherapy together with CBT techniques can help.

If you'd like to explore whether Solution Focused Hypnotherapy could be a useful part of your support, contact Amanda at [email protected] for a free 20-minute consultation.

You can learn to respond differently.
