Part of community building is being okay with the community not showing up. At least to start. But it's partly my job to still make the space available.

So! 🫠 Here we go!

If you are in or near Manchester this Friday and want to chill around a warm fire with me (and hopefully some others), I would love to see you there! FREE chill time, good way to unwind after the week.

If not, there will be other dates. πŸ”₯

Real talk, I tried to record this as a video but I kept tearing up πŸ˜” Nothing wrong with that, of course, but crying was getting in the way of what I was trying to say.

I can really get in my head about how to explain what I'm trying to do with my work... but it really is simple.

I want us to get better at being there for each other. To find the community support we once had. To feel less alone when we're facing the most human moments.

My angle to that solution is through grief, but there are amazing people out there working to achieve it in other incredible ways!

The world can feel pretty dark, so maybe tonight we can light up a corner of it by giving thanks to the people who showed up for us when we needed it. Maybe it'll inspire someone to get over that awkward-dont-know-what-to-say moment and reach out.

πŸ‚ Grab your scarves, put on those boots, and let's get out there to enjoy this amazing season.

πŸ”₯ Join us for the first ever Fireside Evening! We'll be warm around the fire, swapping stories and making new friends.

πŸͺ¦ Then come along as we stroll through the beautiful Southern Cemetery. Admire the changing leaves, spend some time in the quiet, and say hello to our peaceful neighbours.

β˜• Meet up with other mortals to enjoy some lively conversation (πŸ§›πŸ§Ÿ and other immortal creatures aren't allowed, sorry)

🫟 And if you're feeling griefy, join us for a lovely peer to peer support session followed by creative exploration!

Lots of different ways to get out, meet new people, and enjoy our incredible Manchester community!

I always make it a point to visit a cemetery when in a new country. I suspected that this one would feel special, and it certainly didn't disappoint.

I'm far from an expert on such things, but from the little I know the Irish have a healthier relationship with death and grief, one we could all stand to learn from.

On a personal note, my family heritage is Irish and we were part of the diaspora following the famine in the 1800's. There are several Reidy's buried here, which is rare for me to see when searching. I didn't find any of them, but still closer than I've been before πŸ–€

πŸ‚ Hey Manchester, are you ready for the Silent Cemetery Stroll spooky edition?? πŸ‚

Wanna come along? It's completely free, totally non-pressure. Just arrive dressed for the weather and enjoy a very leisurely walk through a gorgeous cemetery.

And if anyone is up for it, we'll grab some lunch at Tibetan Kitchen after!

Comment "event" and send you a link to my Eventbrite page! Grab a ticket just so I know how many to expect, and if you can't make this one, there's always next month!

Most people aren't great around grief. They don't know what to do, what to say, how to act.

Our culture isn't great with it either. We're made to feel like grief is something to "fix" or get over as quickly as possible.

As horrible as it is to think about... we will all be Grievers at some point and we will all be Supporters.

It's inevitable and a natural part of life, so we NEED to be better for each other!

The good news is, Good Mourning guides us through every day and month in a way that makes room for grief AND life. It helps you create practices that are meaningful in your circles and community, ones that may turn into tradions passed down through generations to come.

This topic comes up in griefy spaces more often than you might think. I've yet to find a personal solution, or even one that's a reliable tip for others.

Let's crowd source rage solutions 🀬😑
