After starting her placement visiting client sites with Contracts Director Adrian Parkin, she’s currently doing lots of CAD work, including revising drawings to suit client requirements. We’re close to handover of the turnkey fitout of Theatre 12 at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry 🤝

The picture shows the MAT ECO-flow Stealth 3200 ultraclean ventilation canopy, which extends the hospital’s surgical facilities and complements Theatre 11 and adjacent Recovery, fitout of which was completed by MAT in 2025.

As part of the turnkey fitout, we installed the full critical ventilation system, MEP services, theatre specialist equipment, building works and finishes. We also built a clinical store at ground floor level, replaced roof coverings across part of the existing roof, and installed an equipment/bed lift within the facility.

As well as the operating theatre, the photos show the plant room, with supply and extract air handling unit. When the original plant room was installed, it was designed for future expansion of the facility, of which Theatre 12 now forms a part.

Thank you to the project team at the hospital, who are always an absolute pleasure to work with.

Our commissioning team is preparing to hand over the ECO-flow Stealth 3200 ultraclean ventilation (UCV) canopy and critical ventilation system within the new modular obstetric operating theatre at Hereford County Hospital.

MAT designed, installed and commissioned the UCV and critical ventilation system as part of its popular MCP core package solution.

The two-storey modular building, delivered by Darwin Group for Wye Valley NHS Trust, provides a single dedicated obstetric operating theatre. It is connected to the main hospital by a link corridor, adding surgical capacity to the hospital's existing maternity facilities.

Darwin Group UCV theatres are the only modular theatres to feature the MAT ECO-flow Stealth flush-to-ceiling UCV canopy.

The £5.5m project comes directly from national NHS capital funding allocated to help hospitals reduce surgical wait times and handle elective surgeries like planned Caesarean sections.

MAT is pleased to share that we have a defined and measurable Carbon Reduction Strategy (CRS) in place, in line with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.

We all have a responsibility to operate in an environmentally-responsible manner. The GHG Protocol provides a standardised framework for companies to measure, manage, and reduce their total carbon footprint across direct operations and entire supply chain.

A base year of 2023 has been selected. We have a business-wide commitment to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by28% by 2030 and reach Net Zero for Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 2035. Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gases from company-owned sources, such as cars and factory machinery. Scope 2 covers indirect emissions from purchased energy, such as electricity.

We are also currently underway with our Scope 3 Net Zero review and are actively engaging our key supply chain partners in defining objectives and pathways to achieving Scope 3 Net Zero by 2040. Scope 3 includes all other indirect emissions up and down the supply and value chain, for example goods and services bought from suppliers, and is usually the largest part of a company's footprint.
