🧑 Falls Prevention Awareness Week | 21–25 September

Falls can happen to anyone, but there are simple things we can all do to help reduce the risk of falling and stay independent.

🚢 Stay active and work on your strength and balance
πŸ‘Ÿ Wear well-fitting, supportive footwear
πŸ’‘ Make sure your home is well lit, especially stairs and hallways
🧹 Keep floors and walkways clear of clutter and trip hazards
πŸ‘“ Have your eyesight checked regularly
πŸ’Š Speak to your GP or pharmacist if you are concerned that your medication may be making you dizzy or unsteady

If you or someone you care for is worried about falling, speak to your GP or healthcare professional for advice and support.

Small steps can make a big difference. πŸ’™

There have been around 14 million consultations through the pharmacy first service since it launched in February 2024.

You can get treatment for these conditions from your local community pharmacist, including some prescription medicine, if needed – without you seeing a GP.

From this autumn, participating pharmacies will be able to assess and treat 5 additional common conditions:

- migraine in adults
- outer ear infections in adults
- acne in young people and adults
- mild skin infections and scabies
- seasonal allergic rhinitis in children

πŸ’— Sexual Health Awareness Week | 14–20 September

Your s*xual health is an important part of your overall health and wellbeing.

Many s*xually transmitted infections (STIs) don’t cause any symptoms, so you may have an infection without knowing it. Getting tested is a simple way to look after yourself and your partners.

πŸ”Ή STI testing is available and confidential
πŸ”Ή Sexual health services can offer advice about contraception
πŸ”Ή You can get support if you have concerns about your s*xual health
πŸ”Ή Don’t be embarrassed to ask for help β€” s*xual health professionals are there to support you

If you think you may have an STI, have had unprotected s*x, or simply want peace of mind, consider getting tested.

πŸ“ Speak to your GP practice or your local s*xual health service to find out what support is available.

Looking after your s*xual health is looking after your overall health. πŸ’™

πŸ’š Your mental health matters

Looking after your mental health is just as important as looking after your physical health.

Small things can make a difference:
🌿 Take some time for yourself
πŸ’¬ Talk to someone you trust
😴 Make time for sleep and rest
πŸšΆβ€β™€οΈ Get outside and stay active
❀️ Be kind to yourself β€” it’s okay not to be okay

If you're struggling or feel you need some support, please speak to your GP or a healthcare professional.

You don't have to manage things alone. πŸ’š
