A professional & friendly Ancoats (MCR), appointment-only studio. We create beautiful, custom tattoo designs. My name is Beany, I have been tattooing since 2008.

LGBTQ welcome (safe space), trans-friendly, female boss led, cuppa specialists! This studio space has opened through my dream of having a private space, half art studio and half tattoo studio. My aim is to expand my knowledge through painting, drawing, visiting galleries, working guest spots and travelling.

Busy being creative, doing one project rolls on my enthusiasm and excitement for the next, so I've been working away behind the scenes.

Not every moment of my art/tattoo life needs filming and uploading, so apologies for the lack of any social media. But really, do we care? No, my clients are happy with their work and I'm having a ball just playing with ideas and new projects.

I put a call out to take this custom design of a Viking warrior woman, and lovely Ben took me on it! I had a cracking time layering the shading slowly, building up the dark tones and always a fan of a glassy eye!

Hey our studio is 13 years old today! Gosh what an achievement, we've been through so much.

It's not a cliche to say this studio wouldn't be standing without every single client/friend choosing us.

Lovely Amber wanted a huge oversized shoulder design, to incorporate a ladybird and florals. I used a big, open peony with sweet little baby's breath to fill around the spaces between.
It was so much fun constructing this, and I learnt a lot about flowers when researching too!

While some are concerned with followers, others with maximising profits... I'm continually reminded and surprised about the real purpose of tattoos.

The stories, sometimes heartbreaking, behind people's tattoo choices. And the generosity in which people talk about their feelings, family, heartbreak, sadness, regrets and love.

Because beneath it all is love. And the connection between myself, the person and their tattoo is just pure fu***ng magic. You cannot buy this experience from Amazon, you can't download this time from chatgpt.

My client still loved the meaning and intent behind the lettering, but wasn't keen on the old tattoo and wanted to extend it into a new design.

She chose a world globe, and wanted the writing wrapped into a ribbon. I suggested some flowers to cover the old tattoo.

All coverups when fresh have the ability to make the old ink swell and get a little angry; when it settles right down, the bumpiness calms down and heals into the new piece.

My client Luke showed me a photo of a ship tattoo, and we built on that to create a custom lower leg piece.

Each element- compass, anchor, ship, map- were hand drawn from real photos, and placed together in a composition to suit the leg shape.

Done in two sittings; first the intricate linework, then the shading. This way the skin has less trauma and the healing is better.

I'd really love to create something from many little ideas again, for you. Fully custom!

Yes, I am a dog person. But sphynx cats have always held an interest for me. They seem so regal and otherworldly, but I've been told they're goofy too!

I love drawing them, and the prints here are for sale. If you love them too, I'd love to create another portrait tattoo for my collection.
