The Breath That Connects
Stand or sit comfortably for this short practice to reconnect - to yourself, to the land, to your community.
Before we begin, just notice this...
The breath entering your body didn’t begin with you.
It has travelled through forests and oceans.
Through the leaves of ancient trees.
Through birds in flight.
Through every generation of humans before us.
This same air has been shared by countless living beings.
Place one hand on the heart.
One hand on the lower ribs.
Take three slow breaths.
On each inhale simply think:
Receiving.
On each exhale:
Belonging.
As you breathe in, receive the gift of life that has always been shared.
As you breathe out, offer something back, not effort, just your presence.
The breath has never belonged to us.
We’ve always belonged to it.
