A specialist bed is helping pupils at Elms Bank School feel more comfortable, supported and included in their school day. 💙

Thanks to the generous support of The Duchy of Lancaster Benevolent Fund (Manchester), Next, the Boshier-Hinton Foundation, Sir Jules Thorn Charitable Trust and Frenkel Topping, pupils with profound and complex physical needs are now benefiting from a specialist Acheeva postural support bed.

One pupil benefiting is 12-year-old Zachariah. The Acheeva bed allows him to lie comfortably while continuing to use his iPad, take part in activities and interact with staff.

On several occasions, Zachariah has visibly relaxed soon after being transferred onto the bed. They have seen him smile, make more eye contact and become more engaged with the people around him.

We're incredibly grateful to all our funders for helping make this possible.

What if visiting a clinic could feel like a more positive experience for a child?

That's what Central Lancashire Children's Community Learning Disability Team have achieved with their new sensory and play resources.

Before the equipment arrived, clinic rooms were echoey and there were few resources for children to play with or help them regulate during appointments. Now, colourful liquid floor tiles welcome children into reception, cushions provide opportunities for play and comfort, and toys and sensory equipment help children stay engaged during appointments.

The stepping stones have already become a particular favourite while children wait! 🥰

Staff say the resources have made the rooms feel more welcoming and child-friendly, while parents have reported that children look forward to returning.

We're so pleased to see these resources helping children feel more at ease in a setting that can otherwise feel unfamiliar or overwhelming. 💙

When children at St Nicholas Special School first walked into their new soft play room, their reactions were unforgettable: wide eyes, huge smiles and an excited "WOW!"

This wonderful new space is already making a real difference for around 200 children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities.

The room provides somewhere children can move, climb, explore, relax and regulate their emotions in a safe and supportive environment. Staff have seen children become more engaged, more confident and better able to concentrate back in the classroom after using the space.

For many families, experiences like soft play aren't always accessible because of sensory challenges or cost. Having this facility in school means every child can enjoy the benefits in an environment where they feel safe and supported.

Thank you for helping children thrive. 💙

Nothing beats a visit from Louby Lou to brighten up a hospital stay 💙

When 5-year-old Arlo was admitted to Treehouse Childrens Ward Stepping Hill, he was feeling restless, uncomfortable and not quite himself. Even his iPad wasn't providing the distraction he needed.

Then Louby Lou arrived, bringing magic tricks, balloon modelling and plenty of laughter to children across the ward.

"The clown was funny – I liked how she made me a balloon!" said Arlo, proudly showing off his creation.

His mum told us that he quickly seemed more like his usual self and couldn't stop talking about the magic tricks afterwards.

Louby Lou also visited children at Macclesfield Hospital Children's Ward, at the request of East Cheshire NHS Trust, bringing smiles, wonder and much-needed distraction to Jacob, Tobias and many others.

Thanks to your support, children spending time in hospital this summer can enjoy moments of fun, laughter and magic when they need them most ✨

A huge thank you to VINCI Building for funding two amazing pieces of equipment for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Liverpool Women’s Hospital 💙

These transcutaneous carbon dioxide (TcCO2) monitors provide round-the-clock monitoring for poorly and premature babies — some weighing less than a pound when they’re born.

Before this, babies needed regular heel-prick blood tests to check their CO2 levels — a painful process that disturbed their much-needed sleep and rest.

Now, thanks to these monitors, nurses can keep a constant eye on babies’ levels without repeated blood tests, meaning less pain, less distress, and more time to rest and grow.

One dad told us how heartbreaking it was hearing his newborn cry during every heel prick. “The monitors have made a massive difference,” he said. “Now he gets the rest he needs.”

Thank you, Vinci Building, for helping care for some of Liverpool’s tiniest and most vulnerable babies 💙

We’re proud to have funded a ceiling hoist system at Firwood High School in Bolton, giving over 40 students with profound and multiple disabilities (PMLD) the ability to access their sensory room fully and safely for the first time.

The school’s sensory room has different levels and raised areas, which made it difficult for students with more complex disabilities to access. Now, every one of the students can be safely supported anywhere in the room — exploring lights, using switches independently, and fully participating in sessions that support their learning, movement and wellbeing.

Teacher Shamim Mukadam told us: "The hoist and tracking have completely upgraded this space. The enjoyment on the students' faces is wonderful to see."

For children with PMLD, a fully accessible sensory space is not a luxury — it is an essential part of their learning experience. Thank for helping us make this possible.

Yesterday we had the pleasure of visiting Stepping Hill’s Treehouse Unit with the brilliant Emma Black Musician, who bought songs and smiles to children on the ward through her musical therapy 🩵

11-year-old Tyrell, who visits the hospital regularly, said he’d felt worried before coming, but that the music had helped him feel calm and relaxed. Mum added that the wait can be long, so this provides a great distraction as well as easing that hospital anxiety.

Thank you to our supporters for helping us make this possible!

💙 We're so proud to share the impact of a Sensory Musical Waterbed we funded for Acorns Primary School in Preston — made possible by generous donations from Cash for Kids and the Kirkby Foundation.

Installed in March 2026, the waterbed sits in the school's sensory room and is used every single day by 94 pupils with multiple and complex disabilities.

For Korede, aged 7, whose physical disability limits his ability to sit independently, the waterbed has been life-changing. Fully supported by the warm water, his body relaxes, his movements become easier, and he is able to communicate and engage in ways his teachers describe as remarkable.

For Sophie, aged 9, it has given her a safe, comfortable space to stretch, relax and experience music through vibration — something that simply wasn't possible before. She told staff it was "fantastic" and "cool."

Thank you to our donors for making this possible. Your generosity is giving children with complex needs new ways to experience their world. 💙
