A little glimpse of my unexpected day today and a shout out to MIDS . Which I have since worked out stands for midwifery indemnity direct. 🤣
Today as I went about my early morning, I had just arrived for a walk in the woods and I got a text asking if I could go straight away to a Birth. With my previous insurance product that wouldn’t have been possible because the Client and the Birth were insured rather than the Midwife. Now retrospectively I can let my new insurance company know about the Birth but in the moment when I’m needed, I am insured.
I’m not advocating working in this way, because I truly believe that continuity of midwifery, knowing your Midwife deeply and having time to build a trusting and safe relationship with them is the gold standard of Care, however when the need arises, when other midwives need your support, it feels fantastic to be able to say yes and go.
Also, there’s no beating a beautiful oxytocin fueled homebirth first thing on a Friday morning!
Welcome little one 💛
