A tan might look healthy, but that doesn’t mean it is. 👀
I know this might be an unpopular opinion, but there’s no such thing as a safe UV tan.
And before anyone says, “But I never burn!” — that’s exactly why we need to have this conversation.
☀️ You don’t have to burn to damage your skin.
A tan is your skin’s response to UV exposure and damage. That golden glow comes with biological changes that aren’t always visible on the surface.
UV exposure contributes to:
• Premature skin ageing
• Collagen and elastin degradation
• Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
• An increased risk of skin cancer
And here’s the part I really want you to think about…
We spend hundreds, sometimes thousands, of pounds on skincare and aesthetic treatments trying to reverse the visible signs of ageing.
Yet one of the most effective things we can do for our skin is prevent UV damage in the first place.
I’m not here to judge anyone for wanting a tan. I just believe that making informed choices starts with understanding the science.
No burning doesn’t mean no damage. And controlled UV exposure doesn’t mean risk-free UV exposure.
Your skin has to last you a lifetime. Look after it. 🤍
