Well, I couldn’t let this accolade go by without getting a photo under our famous tree!
150 years old, battered by the sea winds, bent almost sideways and still standing. Not bad going!
My long-suffering husband was roped into taking this photo. Sure, what else would we be doing on a Sunday evening?.
And just to squeeze in a wee colour connection – even the Bendy Tree knows how to make the most of its natural colouring, although I think I’ve brought enough colour for both of us! 💗

From the classroom to colour analysis and Colour & Confidence workshops… and now in front of a camera! Retirement isn’t quite going to plan!
I had a lovely morning at the beautiful Merchant Hotel in Belfast with the Belfast Telegraph team, chatting about colour analysis, the workshops I deliver to community groups and workplaces, and how a little more colour in what we wear can make a real difference to how we look and feel.
It was a great experience, although I must admit I’m much more comfortable doing the talking when there’s no camera pointing at me!
A big thank you to Áine and the team for making me feel so welcome and putting me at ease.

Yesterday was World Mental Health Day, a wee reminder to look after ourselves.
I'm a great believer in the power of colour to lift our mood, but sometimes a good walk, fresh air and a bit of headspace can do just as much good.
It's often the simple things that make a difference.

A very different morning for 𝗦𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀, at the beautiful Veuve Clicquot Lounge in The Merchant Hotel, Belfast.

I had the pleasure of spending the morning with the Belfast Telegraph team for an interview, a little colour analysis and plenty of chat about colour, confidence and why what we wear can affect how we feel.

A few nerves beforehand, but I thoroughly enjoyed it.

𝙉𝙤𝙬 𝙏𝙃𝘼𝙏 𝙞𝙨 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙥𝙤𝙬𝙚𝙧 𝙤𝙛 𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙪𝙧!!
I absolutely love this.
𝐋𝐚𝐝𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 by Tschabalala Self, now standing proudly on the Fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square.

That striking blue dress immediately catches your eye, but it’s her 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 that I love most. She looks as though she knows exactly where she’s going.

And what a brilliant example of the impact colour can make. Imagine the very same figure dressed in beige, grey or black. It simply wouldn’t have the same presence.
𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒈𝒆𝒕𝒔 𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒄𝒆𝒅. 𝑪𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒄𝒂𝒏 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒖𝒔 𝒑𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒆. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒎𝒆𝒔 𝒄𝒐𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒔𝒂𝒚𝒔 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒃𝒆𝒇𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒘𝒆’𝒗𝒆 𝒔𝒂𝒊𝒅 𝒂 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅.
I think I’m going to have to get myself over to London to see her in person. She’ll be there until September 2028, so I’ve no excuse!

There’s definitely a nip in the air now, and the shops are beginning to fill with richer autumn shades.
I spotted these lovely pieces from Mint Velvet in warm orange, olive green, burgundy, deep brown and dark indigo. There’s even a touch of argyle for good measure.
These rich, earthy colours are particularly flattering on anyone who suits an Autumn palette. They also show that autumn dressing doesn’t have to mean dull or drab.

This is Alina and Alex, who are getting married in Italy next year.
They came along to have their colours analysed and to get some guidance on choosing colours for Alex’s suit, the groomsmen and the bridesmaids.
It was lovely to help them begin bringing all those different elements together — and they kindly let me record this video about their experience.

Margaret was one of my very first colour analysis clients - and she also happens to be a very good friend.
We first knew each other many years ago, when we were both IT teachers and Heads of Department - back in the day!
Margaret booked a session in her home town of Ballycastle for herself and her daughter, Frances, and it quickly became clear that she was an Autumn.
Ever since, she has made it her mission to gradually add more of her beautiful autumnal colours to her wardrobe, from the lighter shades through to the deeper, richer tones.
I think you’ll agree, she’s doing a wonderful job!

Delighted to be delivering a Colour with Confidence Workshop for Enterprising Women this October.
I am a member of Enterprising Women myself and it really is a lovely network, supporting both new and established female entrepreneurs across the Mid and East Antrim area.
Running your own business can sometimes be a fairly solitary affair, so having opportunities to meet other women, share ideas, learn from each other and simply have a good chat is so worthwhile.
My Colour & Confidence workshops have become an increasingly popular part of my work, and I’m really looking forward to bringing this one to the group. We’ll be talking colour, clothes, confidence and some very practical ways to make getting dressed — for work and everyday life — that bit easier.
And no, nobody will be forced into bright pink!
