What a success! We have now completed both COVID & Flu weekend clinics for 2026/27, with a massive thank you and congratulations to all of our patients, staff and volunteers for making the last two weekends such a success!

More than 2100 patients have been vaccinated on our weeken clinics this year, with 3274 vaccinations given between COVID & Flu.

We'd like offer particular gratitude to the volunteers from the PPG and beyond who gave their time to help marshal the clinics, keeping them running smoothly and without a hitch! Thank you very much for your support!

For those patients still awaiting their vaccinations, please contact reception as we will be running catch up clinics for those unable to attend the weekends. We have a dedicated COVID & Flu line open 11-1 every day.

We have completed our first COVID & Flu vaccination clinic of the year!
The practice would like to thank all of our patients for attending their appointments, and the staff who worked the weekend for their dedication and effort in completing a successful clinic day.

We saw more than 1,100 patients attend the clinic for their COVID/Flu vaccines on Saturday, with overwhelmingly positive feedback to the practice and the clinic. Thank you everyone who came!

Our second clinic this coming Saturday 10th is planned to cover near the same amount of patients for those eligible for Flu only. There are still some spaces available this weekend, so if you have been invited please get in touch with reception to book an appointment.
We have now opened additional clinic space for patients eligible for COVID and Flu vaccinations- covering Thursday evenings. A message will be sent to this patient group, but please call reception to book an appointment if you have already had an invite.

For those attending any clinics, please come for your appointment time, with easy to remove sleeves and ready for the vaccination in the upper arm.

Car Parking: COVID & Flu Clinics- Saturday 3rd and 10th October

Please be aware that the car park behind the Library will be closed on Saturday 3rd and Saturday 10th October. This is to allow space and safety for the Drive-In clinic to operate within the upper practice car park.

If you are driving in for your appointment on these days, please use the car park located at the lake (Lewell Street Car Park).

There is still space on our COVID & Flu clinic on Saturday 3rd October and our Flu only clinic on Saturday 10th October. If you have had a message from us for eligibility, please contact reception to book an appointment for the relevant clinic. If you believe you should be eligible but haven't heard from us, please call reception to discuss.

COVID & Flu Vaccinations

We are now able to take bookings for the COVID and Flu vaccination clinics. Please see below for the details:

Saturday 3rd October:
COVID & Flu Clinic- Patients eligible for COVID can book in on this date. If you are eligible for flu and COVID, but only desire one of the vaccines, this is the clinic you will be booked in to.
If you have difficulties accessing the practice, we are running a drive through clinic. To book this, you will need to contact reception directly.

Saturday 10th October:
Flu Only Clinic- Patients eligible for flu only can book in to this clinic. If you have difficulties accessing the practice, we are running a drive through clinic. To book this, you will need to contact reception directly.

Clinic Eligibility:
COVID: Aged 75 and up, or immunosuppressed as set out in the Green Book.

Flu: Aged 18-74, or in an at-risk group as set out in the Green Book.

If you are unsure of your eligibility, please contact reception to enquire.

If you are eligible but unable to attend one of the weekend clinics, we will be in touch with alternative dates once the two weekend clinics have been completed.

Today was my last day as a GP in Newent, and I just wanted to say a heartfelt thank you to everyone for all the kind messages, cards, gifts and good wishes. They have been very much appreciated.

It has been an absolute privilege to have worked as a GP in Newent for all these years. I have met and cared for so many wonderful people along the way.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey. I wish you all the very best for the future.

August Bank Holiday Opening Hours 🌼

Newent Doctors Practice and its dispensary will be closed on Monday 31st August 2026 or the Bank Holiday.

We will reopen as normal on Tuesday 1st September 2026.

For medical help during the closure:

• In the case of an emergency call 999
• Use your local pharmacy for minor ailments
