Sometimes, what we call our personality is partly a collection of ways we've learned to protect ourselves.

We withdraw. We cling. We please. We control. We strive to be perfect.

Lise Bourbeau's Five Wounds model offers one way to reflect on these patterns — but it isn't a scientifically validated system for diagnosing trauma or identifying it from body shape.

The goal isn't to label yourself. It's to understand yourself.

Because awareness gives you a choice: you can recognise an old protective pattern without letting it dictate your future.

đź’¬ Which wound resonated with you most: rejection, abandonment, humiliation, betrayal or injustice?

Let's talk about it in the comments.🧩🌿❤️

Are you a perfectionist because you love doing things well, or because making a mistake feels like a reflection of your worth?

In Lise Bourbeau's Five Wounds model, the wound of injustice is associated with the “Rigid” mask.

You might recognise this pattern in someone who constantly strives for perfection, suppresses their emotions, struggles to ask for help or feels they must always appear strong.

They may be the person everyone admires for their discipline and reliability.

But nobody sees how difficult it is for them to accept their own imperfections.

Remember, Bourbeau's model is a self-reflection framework, not a scientifically validated method of diagnosing trauma from someone's body shape.

The question worth asking is:

Who would you be if you no longer felt the need to prove that you're good enough?

You are allowed to make mistakes.

You are allowed to feel.

You are allowed to rest without earning it first.

And you are worthy of respect even when you have nothing to prove.

Your worth was never supposed to depend on your perfection. 🌿🧩 ❤️

Are you genuinely strong and independent, or have you learned that the only person you can rely on is yourself?

In Lise Bourbeau's Five Wounds model, betrayal is associated with the “Controller” mask.

You may recognise the pattern in someone who needs to be in charge, struggles to delegate, finds trusting others difficult, or feels responsible for making sure everything goes according to plan.

Sometimes, what looks like a need for control can be an attempt to protect ourselves from disappointment.

But remember, this is Bourbeau's self-development theory, not a scientifically validated way of diagnosing trauma from body shape or personality.

Here's the question worth asking:

Are you controlling your life because you feel empowered, or because uncertainty makes you feel unsafe?

You can be strong without being in control of everything.

You can be independent without shutting people out.

And you can trust someone without giving them the power to define your worth.

You deserve relationships where you don't have to be on guard all the time.🌿🧩❤️

Have you ever felt guilty for putting yourself first?

In Lise Bourbeau's Five Wounds model, the wound of humiliation is associated with the “Masochist” mask — a pattern involving shame, self-sacrifice and difficulty prioritising your own needs.

You might be the person everyone relies on. The one who always says yes, takes care of everybody, and rarely asks for anything in return.

But behind that generosity, are you sometimes afraid that choosing yourself will make you selfish?

Remember: Bourbeau's model is a self-reflection framework, not a scientifically validated way to identify trauma from someone's body shape.

The question worth asking is:

Are you genuinely giving from love, or are you giving because you feel guilty when you don't?

There's a difference between kindness and self-abandonment.

You can care about people without carrying everything for them.

You can say no without being a bad person.

And you can love others without forgetting yourself. 🌿 🧩 ❤️

What if your fear of being left is quietly influencing the way you live, love — and even the way you see your own body?

In Lise Bourbeau’s Five Wounds model, abandonment is associated with the “Dependent” mask — a pattern built around the fear of being alone, unsupported or left behind.

You might recognise it in yourself through constantly seeking reassurance, struggling to be alone, becoming overly attached, or giving too much of yourself to keep someone close.

But the real healing begins when you realise:

You don't have to abandon yourself just because someone else might leave.

You can love deeply without clinging.
You can need people without losing yourself.
And you can be alone without being abandoned.

Remember, Bourbeau’s body-type connections are a self-reflection theory, not a scientific diagnosis.

The question isn't “Does my body prove I was abandoned?”

It's:

“Have I learned to hold onto others because I'm afraid I won't be okay without them?”🧩🌿❤️

Sometimes the deepest wound isn't someone telling you “I don't want you.”

It's what you eventually start telling yourself.

Lise Bourbeau's model describes rejection as one of five emotional wounds and suggests that the protective response can be withdrawal — becoming the “Fugitive.”

You may recognise it as: • avoiding attention
• struggling to ask for what you need
• feeling uncomfortable being seen
• disappearing when conflict appears
• becoming excessively self-sufficient
• feeling safer observing life than participating in it

Bourbeau also connects this wound with certain physical characteristics, but that part of her theory should be treated as a self-reflection framework, not a scientific diagnostic tool.

The interesting question isn't “Does my body mean I was rejected?”

It's:

“Have I learned to make myself smaller to protect myself from rejection?”

Because sometimes healing isn't about becoming someone completely different.

It's about finally allowing yourself to take up space.🧩🌿❤️

Sometimes we learn to mistake suffering for the price of love.

We stay because we’re attached. We tolerate things because we’re afraid to lose someone. We call anxiety “passion” and emotional chaos “chemistry.”

But love and suffering are not the same thing.

You can love someone and still recognise that the relationship is unhealthy for you. You can have feelings and still walk away. You can choose love without choosing pain, disrespect, manipulation or emotional exhaustion.

Love is something you feel. Suffering is something you don't have to volunteer for.

Today, I choose to love deeply — but I also choose myself deeply.🌿🧩 ❤️

Everyone has a story you haven’t heard yet. 📖

So don’t judge someone by the chapter they’re living right now. You see their position today — but you don’t know what they’ve survived, what they’re learning, or what they’re about to become.

Life can change in ways none of us can predict.

The person you overlook today might become someone you deeply respect tomorrow.

Never mistake someone’s current chapter for their whole story. ✨🌿 🧩 ❤️

Your journey is YOURS. Never measure your progress against someone else's achievements. ❤️

We all have different starting points, different challenges, different circumstances and different destinations.

Sometimes progress looks like taking a giant leap forward. Sometimes it simply means getting out of bed, finding the courage to try again, or taking one tiny step when everything feels difficult.

But here's what matters: A small step forward is still progress. Standing still because you're comparing yourself to someone else is what holds you back.

You don't need to walk faster than anyone. You don't need to follow someone else's path. You don't need to reach their destination.

You just need to keep moving in your own direction.

Celebrate your little victories. Respect your pace. Appreciate how far you've come.

Because your journey is unique, your timing is your own, and your progress deserves recognition.

Don't compare. Don't compete. Just keep becoming the best version of YOU. ❤️
