🌿 Eating healthy foods but still feeling bloated? Here’s why!
It can be SO frustrating when you make an effort to eat well, only to end up feeling gassy, bloated or even constipated. 😣 But did you know that some healthy foods could be contributing to those symptoms?
🥦 Here’s what might be going on:
✨ Fibre overload – fibre is great for gut health, but some types are broken down by your gut bacteria, producing gas in the process. If you increase your fibre intake too quickly, this can lead to bloating and discomfort.
✨ More isn’t always better – the type and amount of fibre you eat matter, especially if you have a sensitive tummy. Focus on gradually increasing fibre and drinking plenty of water as you do so.
✨ Recent antibiotics – antibiotics can disrupt the balance of your gut bacteria, which can trigger uncomfortable digestive symptoms like bloating and diarrhoea.
💚 So, what can you do?
✔️ Increase fibre gradually rather than changing everything overnight.
✔️ Reduce the portion size of foods that you know trigger symptoms.
✔️ Try eating fibre-rich, raw foods like salads earlier in the day. These foods can take longer to break down and may increase gas and bloating, leaving you feeling uncomfortable as you wind down for the evening.
✔️ If raw fruit and vegetables seem to trigger your symptoms, try cooked alternatives and see whether they feel more comfortable.
Remember, you don’t have to force yourself to eat large amounts of a food just because it’s labelled healthy! Finding what works for your tummy is what matters.
