💙💛 OCTOBER IS DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS MONTH! 💛💙

✨ More alike than different! ✨

October is a special month dedicated to celebrating individuals with Down syndrome, raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and embracing the beautiful differences that make every person unique. 💛💙

Down syndrome is a genetic condition caused by the presence of an extra copy of chromosome 21. It can influence how a person develops, learns, and grows, but it does not define who they are or limit their worth, potential, dreams, or ability to bring happiness into the lives of others. 🧬💙

Through raising awareness and understanding, we can help create a world where everyone is treated with fairness, equality, kindness, and respect. A world where differences are embraced, barriers are broken down, opportunities are accessible to all, and inclusion is not just talked about but put into action. 🌍🤝

💙 Challenge stereotypes and spread understanding.

Today, our team at Pathways attended Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training, an important programme designed to improve understanding and awareness of learning disabilities and autism within health and social care settings.

The training was developed following the experiences of Oliver McGowan. It aims to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to provide safe, person-centred care and support.

A huge thank you to Kim, Sarah and Gareth for delivering such an informative and thought-provoking training session. Your expertise and passion made a real impact on everyone who attended.�

We are so proud to share that Kelly and her mum, Gill, have been awarded the title of “Chadderton Champions” by Chadderton Together 🏆💚

They were recognised for their dedicated litter-picking efforts and for helping keep the Firwood Park community clean, welcoming, and full of community spirit. Kelly’s friendly presence, kindness, and pride in the local area make such a positive difference to so many people.

Claire is truly amazing – caring, kind, and an absolute joy to be around. She’s always laughing, bringing so much positivity wherever she goes, and no day is ever dull when Claire’s in!

She always puts everyone else first and is the first to step in and help out, no matter what. Her energy and dedication make such a difference to both the team and the people she supports.
