On World Mental Health Day, we’re reminded how much it means to feel heard, included and understood. A familiar conversation, time spent together or simply having someone there to listen can make a real difference to the day.

At Slieve Na Mon and Mullaghcarn, we take time to get to know each resident as a person — their stories, preferences and the things that bring them comfort and joy.

Today, we’re also recognising the care and kindness shown by our teams, families and friends. Together, we help make our homes places where people feel they belong. 💚

One familiar song can bring back so many memories. 🎶

Music gives our residents something to enjoy together, whether they’re listening, singing along or sharing the story behind a favourite tune. It can spark conversations about people, places and moments from years gone by.

And sometimes, it’s simply a lovely way to spend an afternoon in good company.

Everyone who comes to Slieve Na Mon brings a lifetime of stories, favourite things and little routines that make them who they are. 💛

Some residents love the buzz of an activity with friends. Others are happiest with a quiet chat, a familiar song or a little time to themselves. We enjoy getting to know those preferences and making room for them in everyday life.

Often, it’s the small things that help someone feel truly at home.

Our café and shared spaces give residents places to meet, spend time with visitors or simply sit together over a cup of tea. Some conversations are about the day’s plans; others turn into stories that everyone enjoys hearing.

Having places to come together is an important part of daily life here.

🎬 A trip to the cinema for residents at Slieve Na Mon! 🍿

We headed to the cinema for a screening of Sunshine on Leith, and it was wonderful to spend the afternoon out together. The film gave everyone plenty to chat about on the way home! 💛

As the seasons begin to change, our peaceful countryside surroundings take on all the beautiful colours of autumn. Nestled in the heart of Omagh’s countryside, Mullaghcarn offers residents a tranquil, home-from-home environment where nature forms an important part of everyday life. 🌿

From enjoying a quiet morning coffee with a view to relaxing in our gardens and taking in the fresh country air, there are plenty of opportunities to appreciate the outdoors and support overall wellbeing.
