🤍 WE DID IT! WE’RE OFFICIALLY RATED GOOD! 🤍

We are beyond proud and excited to share that Bloom Ultrasound has received a GOOD rating from the Care Quality Commission (CQC)! 🥹✨

As a small, independent clinic, this means more to us than words can say.

From the very beginning, our vision has been to create a place where families feel safe, supported and cared for. A place where every scan is about more than just a picture — it’s about reassurance, connection and those precious moments that families will treasure forever. 🤍

Achieving a GOOD rating is a huge milestone for our little business and recognition of the hard work, dedication and care that goes into everything we do.

We are incredibly proud of our team and so grateful to every family who has trusted us to be part of their journey.

Thank you for supporting Bloom, recommending us to your friends and family, and allowing us to do the job we love every single day. 🫶🏼

This is just the beginning, and we can’t wait to continue growing, improving and providing the very best care for our Bloom families.

✨ WE’RE FINALISTS! ✨

We are SO excited to share that Bloom Ultrasound has been nominated as a finalist in the Devon Women in Business Awards 2026! 🥹🤍

When April and I started Bloom, we had a vision of creating a warm, welcoming space where families could feel supported, make memories and enjoy those precious moments of seeing their little ones on screen. To be recognised in this way means more than we can put into words. 🫶🏼

Running a small business comes with its challenges, but moments like this remind us why we do what we do. Every family who walks through our doors, every little heartbeat we get to share and every lovely review means the world to us.

To be recognised alongside so many incredible women in business across Devon is such an honour! ✨

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported Bloom, recommended us, booked with us and cheered us on along the way. We wouldn’t be here without you! 🩷

Now, roll on awards night! 🥂✨

For the babies we carry in our hearts, always. 🤍🕊️

This Baby Loss Awareness Week, we remember every precious baby lost during pregnancy, at birth and in infancy.

To the parents who have experienced loss, we see you. We remember your babies. We know that although the world may keep moving, your love for your baby never fades.

We know that pregnancy after loss can bring so many emotions. Joy and hope can sit alongside fear and anxiety. Excitement can feel complicated, and every milestone can carry a little extra weight.

At Bloom, we want every family who walks through our doors to feel seen, heard and cared for. We understand that behind every scan is a story, and sometimes that story carries heartache that others cannot see.

Today, and always, we hold space for the babies who are no longer in our arms but will forever be part of our stories. 🦋

To every baby gone too soon, you are loved, you are remembered, and you will never be forgotten.

Sending love to every family who is carrying a little extra in their heart this week. 🤍

With love, Lauren, April & the Bloom Ultrasound team 🌿

It’s never just another day at Bloom 🤍

Every appointment is another little moment that we’re lucky enough to be part of — the first glimpse, the little kicks, the tiny heartbeats and those beautiful moments when parents see their baby for the first time. 🥹

We know how precious these moments are, and we never take it for granted that you choose us to share them with you.

Here’s to another day of beautiful moments, bonding and little heartbeats. ✨

🤍 WORRIED BETWEEN NHS SCANS?

Pregnancy can feel like a very long wait between appointments — especially when you’re feeling anxious and just want to know that everything looks okay.

At Bloom, we offer reassurance scans throughout pregnancy, giving you the opportunity to see your baby and have a little peace of mind between your NHS appointments.

Our scans are designed to provide reassurance and are not a replacement for NHS maternity care. If you have worrying symptoms or concerns about your pregnancy, please contact your maternity triage, EPU or other appropriate NHS service.

Sometimes you just need that little bit of reassurance. 🤍

Want to give your scan the best possible chance? 👶🤍

Although we can never guarantee exactly what baby will show us, there are a few little things you can do before your appointment that may help:

💧 Stay well hydrated before your scan and throughout the day.

🚽 If you’re under 28 weeks, arriving with a comfortably full bladder can sometimes help us obtain better abdominal views.

👗 Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to your tummy.

🍽️ Eat and drink normally — you don’t need to fast before your scan.

And most importantly… don’t worry if baby isn’t cooperating straight away! 😂

Sometimes baby needs a little time, a change of position or a walk around to give us a better view.

At Bloom, we offer free rescans where appropriate if we’re unable to obtain the views we’re hoping for. 🤍

Because sometimes… baby really is just in charge! 👑

✨ When is the best time to book your 4D scan?

At Bloom, we offer 4D scans from 26–34 weeks, but did you know that placenta position can sometimes play a part in the quality of your images? 🤍

Every pregnancy is different, and things such as your baby’s position, the amount of fluid around baby and where your placenta is positioned can all affect how clearly we’re able to capture those beautiful little features.

Over the next two slides, we’re taking a closer look at the two common placenta positions — anterior and posterior — and how they can affect your 4D experience.

Save this post for later if you’re planning your 4D scan, and keep an eye out for the next two posts! 👶🏼✨ Book via the link in our bio! Limited time to get 15% off for our autumn deal! 💫

🤍 Anterior placenta & your 4D scan

If you have an anterior placenta, this simply means your placenta is attached to the front wall of your womb, towards your tummy.

Because the placenta can sit between baby and the ultrasound probe, it can sometimes make it a little more challenging to capture clear images of baby’s face.

That doesn’t mean you won’t get beautiful images! 🥰 Baby’s position, fluid levels and how much space there is around baby can all make a difference too.

For an anterior placenta, we recommend booking your 4D scan from around 26–28 weeks, when there is usually more fluid around baby to help us capture those lovely detailed images. ✨

Swipe through to see exactly where an anterior placenta sits.

📍 Bloom Ultrasound | South Devon

🤍 Posterior placenta & your 4D scan

A posterior placenta means your placenta is attached to the back wall of your womb, towards your spine.

Because the placenta is behind baby rather than between baby and the ultrasound probe, it may give us a clearer window for imaging baby’s face. 👶🏼✨

For a posterior placenta, we offer 4D scans anytime from 28–34 weeks, with around 30 weeks often being an ideal time.

At around this stage, baby is usually not too low down in the pelvis, giving us a good opportunity to capture those gorgeous little facial features. 🤍

Pregnancy can feel like a long wait between NHS appointments 🤍

That’s where our reassurance scans can help.

If you’re feeling well but simply want to see your baby again between your routine NHS scans, we’re here for you.

Our reassurance scans give you the opportunity to see your baby, check their heartbeat and have some precious reassurance along the way. 🥰

But please remember: a private reassurance scan is not a replacement for NHS maternity care.

If you have any worrying symptoms such as bleeding, pain, leaking fluid, or reduced movements, please contact your maternity triage, EPU or appropriate NHS pregnancy service rather than booking a private scan.

We will always direct you to the right NHS service if you tell us about symptoms that need further assessment. 🤍

We’re here for reassurance — not to replace your maternity care.

Did you know that “sonographer” isn’t a protected title in the UK? 👀

It’s something that many people don’t realise when choosing where to have a private ultrasound.

So what does that actually mean?

We’ve put together this post to explain a little more about professional registration, ultrasound training and why it’s completely reasonable to ask who is performing your scan and what their professional background is. 🤍

At Bloom, we believe you should feel confident in the person looking after you.

You can always ask about:
✨ Professional registration
✨ Qualifications
✨ Ultrasound training
✨ Experience
✨ Scope of practice

There’s no such thing as a silly question when it comes to your care.

Save this post for the next time you’re looking for a private ultrasound, and send it to someone who might find it useful. 🌸
