You don’t have to stop training just because you’ve picked up an injury, especially when training is such a big part of your life. ❤️
You can work around it. You just have to be smart about how you do it.
My back has been giving me issues since April, so what have I done?
Adapted.
I’ve swapped exercises, changed movements and found alternatives that allow me to keep training without putting unnecessary strain on my back.
Some things I’ve done
💚Swapped barbell rows, which are my fave for more machine-based exercises.
🩷Taken deadlifts and RDLs out because they aggravate my back.
💚Found alternative exercises that target the same muscles but feel much more comfortable.
🩷I wear my belt when I can for extra support.
💚Stretch when possible.
I can still feel a niggle the next day but I’m learning what works for me and what doesn’t.
I’ve worked so hard to get to this stage so im definitely not prepared to throw all that progress away because of an injury.
It’s about adapting, not giving up.
Of course, recovery is just as important as training. Listening to your body, knowing when to push and when to pull back and giving yourself the time to recover properly is key.
An injury doesn’t always mean you have to stop. Sometimes it just means you have to change the way you train, work around it, be sensible, prioritise recovery and remember that progress doesn’t have to look the same every single week. 💪❤️
